Truck Driver – Class A with Tanker Endorsemen

Summary MCE Corporation is seeking an experienced Truck Driver with a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and tanker endorsement to support our construction and paving projects. In this role, you will safely transport loose materials and construction equipment to and from job sites and assist as a laborer when not driving. You must be safety-focused, reliable, and comfortable working in an outdoor, construction environment. What You’ll Do Operate trucks (26,000 GVW and above) to transport loose materials such as sand, aggregate, asphalt, concrete, cement, and excavation spoils (broken pavement, dirt, wood, and miscellaneous debris). Transport construction equipment (rollers, loaders, pavers, and other heavy equipment) to job sites using equipment trailers. Perform laborer tasks when not driving, including sweeping, shoveling, raking, and operating small machinery (vibratory plate, compactor, air compressor, breaker, and other small equipment) as directed by the Field Supervisor. Conduct daily equipment inspections, including tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, water, and wipers, with extra attention in wet weather conditions. Adjust brakes weekly and perform fuel and equipment checks on any transported machinery. Report mechanical defects or safety hazards promptly to the Field Supervisor or Mechanic Supervisor. Safely load, secure, transport, and unload equipment and materials, ensuring all loads are properly fastened and compliant with safety regulations. Operate and drive dump trucks and truck–trailer combinations efficiently to and from job sites. Maintain clear communication with the Field Supervisor via mobile radio to report problems, delays, or other important information. Complete and submit daily truck logs accurately and on time. Read and understand the contents of the MCE Corporation Employee Handbook and the Health, Safety, and Environmental Program Manual. Required Qualifications Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Valid tanker endorsement (N or X) on your Class A CDL. Experience operating Class A trucks, including dump trucks and truck–trailer combinations. Basic mechanical knowledge of dump trucks, large trucks, cement mixers, and equipment trailers. Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and identify basic mechanical issues. Ability to follow safety procedures and company policies at all times. Reliable transportation to and from Concord, CA job site. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience hauling construction materials and equipment. Experience working on road, paving, or civil construction projects. Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a crew. Prior experience performing general laborer duties on construction sites. Supervisory Responsibilities This is generally a subordinate position directed by a Field Supervisor. On occasion, you may be asked to manage 1–2 co-workers of other or like trades. In those instances, you are responsible for the direction, coordination, and performance of the crew and must carry out responsibilities in accordance with MCE Corporation policies and applicable laws. Physical Demands Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk, and hear. Frequently required to climb or balance. Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
