This is a critical role responsible for managing bid preparation and cost estimating for civil projects. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of civil scopes, and a proven ability to produce competitive and accurate estimates.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare complete and detailed cost estimates for public and private sector civil projects (earthwork, utilities, paving, grading, drainage, etc.)Review bid packages, drawings, and specifications to identify project scope, risks, and requirementsSolicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing; maintain relationships with vendors and trade partnersCollaborate with project managers and field staff to ensure alignment between preconstruction and executionAttend pre-bid meetings, perform site visits, and assess job site conditions as neededProvide support for junior estimators as neededPrepare quantity takeoffs using software tools (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, or similar)Build budgets, schedules, and phasing plans as part of proposal packagesSupport project handoffs and provide guidance to field teams after awardMonitor market trends and pricing changes to ensure competitivenessContribute to refining internal estimating systems and databasesQualifications4+ years of estimating experience at a civil contractorStrong knowledge of civil construction methods and materialsExperience bidding DOT, municipal, and private site development projectsProficiency in industry-standard estimating software (e.g., HCSS, AGTEK, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar)Strong math, critical thinking, and communication skillsDetail-oriented and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentAbility to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and geotechnical reportsCompensation & BenefitsBase Salary: $105,000 – $135,000/year depending on experienceComprehensive Benefits Package, including:Health InsuranceDental and Vision CoveragePaid Time Off and Paid Holidays401(k) with company match (if applicable)Company-provided training and continued education opportunities
