SummaryThis position is responsible for performing mechanical maintenance to all EAA vehicles and equipment. Duties include preventive maintenance, repairs, vehicle safety inspections, and various welding and fabrication of equipment, and other related projects. Other duties may be assigned.Roles And ResponsibilitiesAssist in repairs and maintenance on EAA vehicles and equipment according to the standards set by supervisor.Performs duties of engine tune-ups, repairs and overhauls, oil changes, tire rotations and changes, with repairs to manual, drive trains and axles, transmissions, clutches, brakes, and suspension.Performs duties of repairs and fabrication to equipment through welding, cutting and grinding of various metalsResponsible for operation of various types of tools, equipment; machinery, and vehicles of all types.Schedules future maintenance and advises operators on specific maintenance requirements.Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs.Performs duties of vehicle/trailer hook-ups and deliveries.Loading and unloading of vehicles and equipment.Preforms minor auto body repairs to vehicles and equipment as required.General clean up to EAA standards of vehicles, equipment, buildings and grounds as directed.Maintain cleanliness and safety standards at all times.Embraces and supports the EAA mission and performs safe practices in the workplace and aviation environment.All other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsA two-year degree in a related field and at least one year of experience as a vehicle mechanic, or an equivalent combination of both.Knowledge and skill sets of welding and fabricationSupply own basic toolsA valid license and the ability to obtain CDL (air brakes, passenger bus)Ability to perform manual labor, lift up to 75 lbs., standing or sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, pushing, and pullingWork involves exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.COMPETENCIESExperience in all fundamental areas of mechanical maintenance and repairs to vehicles, with knowledge in agriculture equipment.Ability to efficiently read wiring diagrams.Knowledge in basic automotive / equipment electrical diagnosticsKnowledge in fundamentals of welding equipment, welding, and fabrication.Fundamentals of auto body repairs, including prep and paint.Strong communication and organizational skills.Basic skills in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel and OutlookAbility to work in a cooperative work environment.Professional attitude and ability to perform as a team leader and member.Ability to represent EAA in a professional and enthusiastic manner.Work effectively with volunteer personnel in a team environment to accomplish task at handStrong work ethic, including ability to work extended hours during required periods.Ability to complete multiple tasks.Physical RequirementsAbility to perform manual labor, lift up to 75 lbs occasionally, standing and walking for extended periods of time while bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, push and pull motions. Work above ground on irregular surfaces.
