Seeking experienced relay construction inspection professional for full-time, permanent hire in North Carolina. Per diem and full benefits, 401K, PTO, sick time and holidays, company vehicle and year-round job stability.POSITIONS:Relay Construction Engineer (RCI II)Four-year degree AND three or more years of relevant experienceEight+ years of relevant experience AND more than 3 years of leadership/compliance management experienceJOB DESCRIPTION:Responsible for ensuring Contract Compliance is provided for Contractors performing Relay & Controls services on the clients systemWill ensure work is completed safely and to design specificationsThe scope of work will vary from simple upgrades and maintenance on existing substations to the construction of new substationsResponsible for identifying and assisting in the resolution of issues that could compromise the success of a project (e.g. design issues, material issues, Contractor performance issues, access issues, customer issues, etc.)JOB REQUIREMENTS:Physical abilitiesWork long hours and potential weekendsNavigate uneven terrain (steep slopes)Varying climatesValid driver's licenseCommunication / CoordinationProvide efficient customer service and communicate with field personnel oftenProvide responsive, courteous, and timely serviceConstant and timely communications with Relay Inspectors & Clients Energy Relay Support ManagerTechnicalBasic computer skills (Word, Excel, email)Support technical field staff and consultants with protection & control applicationsComply with all applicable NERC regulations and document for NERC-CIP proceduresSupport power system facilities and equipment installation/upgrade to electric power generating stations, T&D substations, P&C systemsPossess in-depth knowledge of substation relaying protection and SCADA systemPrepare project reportsDocument projects for tracking and lessons learnedTrainingOSHA 10HP trainingSCOPE OF WORK COMPLIANCE, WORK PLAN, PROGRESS AND SCHEDULEPerform and document EH&S (Environmental Health & Safety) safety auditsEnsure pre-job briefings or observations are being effectively usedMonitor crew productivityValidate units/T&E (Time & Equipment) completed for invoicingReport all Human Performance, safety and environmental incidents immediately to local representative for clientPerform and document QA inspections during constructionSupport project documentation and ensure as-built drawings are completed and submittedProvide feedback on personnel performanceProvide status reports as neededEnsure coordination of outages with customer, Contractor, local operating personnel and System Controlling AuthorityFacilitate/Attend pre-construction meetings with the Contractor prior to move-in (as needed) to discuss and develop job plan and sequenceEnsure compliance with prints, work orders and construction practicesVerify the proper use of all Human Performance tools such as: HP tool kit, functional guidelines, barricading, PIC signs, good housekeeping, etc.Participate in Pre-Job and Post-Job briefingsInterface with other departments to resolve all issues (ex. temporary power, switching manpower, etc.)Ensure that all NERC test documents, red-lines, SOI, etc. are submitted to the relay construction engineer following energizationAttend final walk through and check offCOMPENSATIONCompetitive salaryFull benefits package (medical/vision/dental, matching 401K, PTO, etc.)Company vehicles are provided for company business use only.Phone and laptop
