Controls TechnicianReports To: Automation & Engineering ManagerLocation: Holstein, IAPosition OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on Controls Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, programming, and continuous improvement of industrial control systems within a manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting automation initiatives across production operations.The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced setting, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and works collaboratively with engineering, maintenance, and production teams.Key ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical control systems including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, and motor controlsProgram and modify PLCs and HMIs to support process improvements and equipment upgradesBuild, modify, and integrate electrical and controls components for manufacturing equipmentCreate and maintain electrical schematics and documentation using AutoCAD ElectricalSupport integration of new equipment into existing control systemsProvide technical troubleshooting support using electrical schematics and system diagnosticsPerform preventive and predictive maintenance to reduce downtimeMaintain accurate documentation including wiring diagrams, system configurations, and change logsParticipate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actionsCollaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to meet operational goalsTrain maintenance personnel on basic control system troubleshootingOperate a forklift (certification required or obtainable)Follow all safety standards and regulatory requirementsPerform additional duties as assignedQualificationsAssociate’s degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related fieldOR3+ years of hands-on experience working with industrial control systems in a manufacturing environment(Bachelor’s degree preferred)Proficiency with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms)Experience configuring HMIsStrong understanding of industrial electrical systems and instrumentationAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentationExcellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsStrong communication and teamwork abilitiesKnowledge of safety standards and regulatory complianceEntry-level candidates with strong interest in Industrial Automation, Electrical Systems, or Engineering are encouraged to apply.Physical RequirementsAbility to sit for extended periods and work at a computerManual dexterity for typing, writing, and tool useAbility to lift up to 50 pounds occasionallyFrequent walking throughout manufacturing facilitiesAbility to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb ladders, and maintain balance on industrial surfacesTravel between facilities as requiredReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.BenefitsComprehensive benefits package including:Medical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchFlexible spending and health savings accountsLife insuranceShort- and long-term disability coveragePaid time offTuition reimbursementEmployee assistance programAnd more
