RF Engineer
RF Engineer (Microwave & Wireless Systems)Location: Overland Park, KSDuration: Contract-to-HireWe are seeking an experienced RF Engineer with strong expertise in microwave (MW) transport systems, RF design, and wireless infrastructure engineering to support our client's growing telecommunications and utility projects. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering the chance to work on complex, mission-critical wireless systems across utility, industrial, and government environments.In this role, you will lead the design, planning, engineering, and optimization of point-to-point and point-to-multipoint microwave networks, while supporting broader wireless system deployments from concept through implementation.Microwave & RF EngineeringDesign and engineer microwave links using tools such as Pathloss 6 and Infovista PlanetPerform link budget calculations, reliability analysis, and path feasibility studiesConduct path profiling, fading analysis, and availability modelingOptimize MW links for capacity, performance, and interference mitigation (licensed and unlicensed bands)Execute line-of-sight (LOS) studies, path surveys, and field validationWireless System DesignDesign and optimize wireless networks including LTE/5G, Narrowband, and Land Mobile Radio systemsPerform coverage analysis, frequency planning, and interference analysisEvaluate and integrate radio platforms from leading vendors (e.g., Nokia, Aviat, Ericsson)Review antenna configurations, equipment specs, and tower loading requirementsProject Execution & Technical LeadershipLead RF engineering efforts across the full project lifecycle from initial survey through deployment and optimizationServe as a subject matter expert (SME) in microwave backhaul and wireless systemsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project scope, schedule, and budgetSupport installation, integration, and on-site system validationProvide technical guidance to internal teams and clientsDocumentation & Client SupportDevelop installation drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and cost estimatesPrepare Methods of Procedure (MOPs), testing plans, and technical documentationSupport RFP responses, scope development, and level-of-effort (LOE) estimatesPresent technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersQualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related communications/engineering field5 8 years of experience in wireless communications and RF engineeringStrong experience with microwave backhaul design and optimizationProficiency with Pathloss 6 and Infovista PlanetHands-on experience configuring microwave radios is a plusUtility industry experience strongly preferredExperience with client-facing presentations and technical workshopsAbility to develop and deliver technical documentation (MOPs, test procedures, etc.)Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus, but not requiredMust be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorshipAspen Technical StaffingCELEBRATING 25 YEARS~2001-2026~We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
