Senior Integration & API ArchitectLocation: REMOTEEmployment Type: [Contract / Contract-to-Hire]IntePros is seeking a Senior Integration & API Architect to provide technical leadership for enterprise integration initiatives across multiple business and technology workstreams. This is a highly autonomous, staff-level engineering role for someone who thrives in ambiguous environments, enjoys solving complex integration challenges, and has a proven track record of designing scalable API and event-driven architectures.ResponsibilitiesLead the API and integration intake process, ensuring consistent prioritization, governance, and delivery across multiple initiatives.Define, implement, and enforce enterprise API standards for RESTful and event-driven integrations.Design secure integration architectures, including tokenization strategies to protect sensitive data (PII/NPI) across non-production environments.Establish scalable synchronous and event-driven integration patterns for enterprise applications.Configure and manage API gateway and integration platforms, including Gravitee and Workato (experience with Apigee, MuleSoft, or similar platforms is also valued).Design and support event streaming solutions using AWS MSK/Kafka and contribute to workflow orchestration using Temporal or comparable durable execution frameworks.Ensure API contracts align with enterprise canonical data models while partnering closely with Data Architecture teams.Serve as a hands-on technical leader, providing architectural guidance, mentoring engineers, and removing technical roadblocks.QualificationsExtensive experience designing and implementing enterprise API and integration architectures.Strong expertise with REST APIs, AsyncAPI, API contract design, and governance.Hands-on experience with API gateway technologies, including policy management, security, rate limiting, and access control.Experience with integration/iPaaS platforms such as Workato, MuleSoft, Apigee, or similar solutions.Deep understanding of modern authentication and authorization protocols, including OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.Experience implementing data protection solutions such as tokenization using Protegrity, TokenEx, or similar technologies.Strong background in event-driven architecture with hands-on experience using Kafka or AWS MSK.Experience with workflow orchestration platforms such as Temporal is preferred.Familiarity with enterprise canonical data models, logical data modeling, or Master Data Management (MDM) is a plus.Exposure to AI orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph or other agentic workflow platforms is a plus.Demonstrated ability to work independently, bring structure to evolving environments, and make sound technical decisions with minimal oversight.Proven success delivering large-scale integration solutions in complex enterprise environments.This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer who enjoys solving enterprise-scale integration challenges while helping establish the architecture, standards, and technical direction for a growing integration ecosystem.
