Propulsion Systems Test EngineerLocation: Leander, Texas (Onsite)Employment Type: Full-TimeCompensation: Approximately $150,000 annuallyOverviewAn advanced defense technology organization is seeking a Propulsion Systems Test Engineer to support the development, integration, and execution of propulsion and ballistic testing systems for next-generation aerospace and autonomous platforms.This is a highly hands-on engineering role focused on propulsion testing, hardware integration, instrumentation, and rapid iteration in a fast-paced development environment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, experience supporting propulsion or aerospace testing activities, and the ability to move quickly from design through real-world execution.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and operate propulsion test rigs, ballistic test setups, and support hardwareDevelop and execute static fire and propulsion characterization test plansSupport ground and flight test campaigns, including hardware integration and troubleshootingCreate and modify CAD models, fixtures, and mechanical assembliesConfigure and operate DAQ systems, instrumentation, and sensor integrationsWork with pressure transducers, load cells, strain gauges, thermocouples, and optical measurement systemsPerform data analysis, post-test reporting, and testing documentationDevelop work instructions, safety procedures, and technical documentationCollaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams during fabrication, assembly, and testing activitiesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline3–5+ years of experience in propulsion testing, aerospace testing, mechanical test engineering, or similar hands-on hardware environmentsProficiency with CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, Onshape, or equivalent toolsExperience with instrumentation systems, sensors, and DAQ systemsFamiliarity with electrical systems, wiring, mechanical assembly, fabrication, and hardware integrationStrong mechanical engineering fundamentals and hands-on troubleshooting skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with solid rocket motors, propulsion systems, energetics handling, or cure cyclesExperience working in clean room environmentsExperience with high-speed data acquisition systemsFamiliarity with LabVIEW, MATLAB, or PythonWelding, machining, or fabrication experienceAerospace or defense industry backgroundAdditional RequirementsMust meet ITAR requirements (U.S. Citizen, Green Card holder, or eligible status)Ability to work onsite in Leander, TXBenefitsOpportunity to work on cutting-edge aerospace and propulsion systemsHigh-impact role within a fast-moving engineering organizationCollaborative, hands-on engineering environmentExposure to advanced autonomous and defense technologies
