Dietary Aide Part-Time (Hiring Immediately)
Job Title: Dietary Aide - Part-Time Facility: Kern River Transitional Care Center Salary Range: $17.08 - $17.10 per hour General Purpose The Dietary Aide assists in the preparation and service of meals to residents in accordance with approved menus, therapeutic diet requirements, and facility policies. Assignments are based on the needs and activities of the shift. This position reports directly to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor. Essential Duties Learn and follow food service routines within a short period of time Set up and prepare meal trays according to dietary specifications Break down returned trays and operate the dishwashing system Check and record chlorine concentration and dishwasher water temperature at the beginning of shift Monitor dishwasher temperatures during cycles Prepare nourishments and snacks as assigned Assist with meal service Sweep, mop, and maintain kitchen and dining areas in a clean and sanitary manner Clean work surfaces, refrigerators, and equipment Carry out trash and garbage Properly store groceries and supplies in a safe, organized manner Leave kitchen area clean and ready for next shift Participate in orientation and ongoing training Work cooperatively with staff in all departments Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Previous dietary or food service experience in healthcare preferred but not required Language Skills Ability to read and follow recipes and technical procedures Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members Mathematical Skills Basic understanding of fractions, measurements, and portion control Reasoning Ability Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to solve routine practical problems Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler's Certificate Physical Demands Frequent standing and walking Frequent reaching, pushing, and pulling Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or balancing Frequent talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling Visual abilities including close and distance vision and depth perception Work Environment Work is performed in a kitchen environment with exposure to heat, moisture, and cleaning chemicals.
