Aide II-STEM Lab Exemption Status: Non-exemptReports to: Principal Pay Grade: 02Works With: Students/Staff Days: 187Dept./School: Assigned CampusPrimary Purpose:The STEM lab aide provides assistance to teachers and students in the STEM lab.Prerequisites:High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)Forty-eight (48) college level hours from an accredited institution of higher education or Associate's Degree;Ability to obtain Texas Educational Aide Certification.Special Knowledge/Skills:* Computer literate, ability to type, operate Macintosh computer, duplicating machine* Copy machine, VCR, DVD etc.Experience:* Experience working in a classroom setting preferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Prepare materials for students' STEM instructionPrepare bulletin boards as directed by the principalOperate equipment: computer, typewriter, duplicating machine, film projector, VCR, DVD player, etc.Set up lab and/or computer stations as required by teacher (install software/Load paper, install ribbons on printers/make backup copies/manage file server)Assist in drillsHelp students to understand directions in lab lessonsSupervise and assist students doing lab assignmentsAssist students in following the correct procedures for safety practices.Do minor trouble shootingPrint statistical analysis for Instruction coursewareInventory materials and equipmentStore computer materials and software safelyHelp with reports, record keeping, evaluation and testingKeep computer monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, desk and other computer peripherals cleanSTEM Lab Aide may be assigned certain limited, rotating duties not related to classroom instructionconsistent with similar duties assigned to regular non-federal personnel if such duties do not interfere withtheir primary duties* Other duties as assigned by supervisor.Manage use of STEM laboratory roomsMaintain a log of laboratory activities by teacher, grade, and lesson for each laboratory roomEnsure that the layout of the laboratory space is appropriate for the lessonEffectively communicate with staff members the availability for the laboratory roomsMaintain Laboratory equipment and storeroomSet up equipment for each lesson as necessaryAssist teacher with lesson where appropriateBreak down and clean up laboratory rooms between lessonsEnsure that technology equipment is charged and in proper working orderMaintain an organized store room in compliance with any safety regulationsCheck out and monitor equipment for use in the classroomMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripheralsPosture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingMotion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reachingLifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hoursMental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
