Founded in 2019, Swift supports Civilian, Defense, and Intelligence Community customers across the country and around the globe.The Swift Group is looking for a Web Developer with Rust expertise to support the design, development, and enhancement of high-performance web applications in McLean, VA. In this role, you will build efficient, scalable backend services and web-facing components using Rust, contributing to modern systems that emphasize performance, reliability, and maintainability. The team operates in an Agile development environment and collaborates closely across teams.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain high-performance web applications and services using the Rust programming languageImplement and enhance backend services, APIs, and web-facing components with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliabilityCollaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into well-structured, maintainable software solutionsWrite clean, well-documented, and testable code, and participate in peer code reviews and technical discussionsOptimize application performance through effective use of concurrency, parallelism, and efficient resource managementContribute to system integration efforts, including RESTful APIs and microservices-based architecturesStay current with evolving Rust language features, ecosystem tools, and modern web development best practicesRequirements5+ years of software engineering and/or web development experienceDemonstrated professional experience developing applications using the Rust programming languageStrong understanding of web development principles, backend application design, and API development best practicesExperience with Rust web frameworks such as Actix, Rocket, or WarpExperience designing and consuming RESTful APIs within distributed or microservices-based architecturesHands-on experience with parallel and concurrent programming conceptsExperience working with databases and data persistence layers, including familiarity with ORM tools such as DieselExperience using Git or similar version control systems in a collaborative development environmentFamiliarity with WebAssembly (Wasm) for client-side or performance-sensitive web use casesUS citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required Desired ExperienceExperience working in Agile development environmentsStrong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skillsAbility to communicate effectively and collaborate within a multidisciplinary engineering teamUnderstanding of secure coding practices and web application security fundamentalsExperience with automated testing practices, including test-driven development (TDD) or similar approachesBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experienceCertifications such as SAFe Devops Practitioner, Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), Security+, ITIL v3 Foundation, Certified System Administrator, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), GCIH, Web Application Pen Testing, Network Pen TestingDo you know anyone for this position, or other positions open at The Swift Group?
