Associate Director, Digital Marketing

The Associate Director, Digital Marketing is a strategic, hands-on leader responsible for driving innovative and successful digital marketing initiatives. You'll lead dynamic, full-funnel campaigns for frontlist and select backlist titles across gaming, food & drink, graphic novels, general reference, home decor, card decks, and children's titles. You'll also mentor and lead an Associate Publicist, and be hands-on in overseeing their list of publicity campaigns for lead titles, top-tier brands, and influential authors.
This is a high-impact role at a small, independent publishing house for someone who understands how to engage readers where they are—on Amazon, TikTok, Instagram, and beyond—and who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of developing and executing direct-to-consumer marketing programs, including digital strategy, influencer outreach, and partnerships. The candidate will also have experience building strong relationships with authors, agents, influencers, and others in genre book publishing.
The Role
Strategize, budget and execute the digital advertising, social media, and influencer marketing efforts across paid and organic channels for front list and select backlist titles
Oversee and grow the publisher's ecommerce strategy and TikTok Shop presence, including product listings, creator partnerships, promotions, and tracking performance
Manage Amazon advertising campaigns (AMS), including strategy, setup, optimization, reporting, and budget tracking
Develop social media and influencer strategies for individual titles as well as author brands designed to drive engagement and increase readership
Work closely with editorial, sales, and publicity to implement cohesive campaigns and promotions and communicate updates and takeaways
Advise authors on best practices and platform strategies to grow their audiences and visibility.
Oversee Publicity Associate to ensure that publicity plans are consistent with overall marketing strategy for each book
Utilize market research and analytics to monitor trends and optimize marketing strategies and target audiences
Present marketing initiatives for all books at Sales Conference
Optimize Amazon A+ content and product listings for discoverability
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in book marketing, digital marketing, including hands-on management of organic social and influencer strategies
Deep experience with Amazon Ads (AMS), Meta Ads, and email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Klaviyo)
Demonstrated experience working on social commerce strategy, i ncluding TikTok Shop
Strong writing, communication, and project management skills.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple campaigns at once.
Passion for books and a strong understanding of the publishing landscape.
