In this role, you will lead land development and infrastructure projects across a broad range of sectors including K-12, higher education, municipal, commercial, restaurant, and mixed-use developments. You'll manage projects from concept through completion while making high-level engineering decisions and driving successful project execution. The firm operates within integrated multi-disciplinary studios where engineers collaborate closely across Civil, MEP, and Structural disciplines to deliver coordinated, high-performance solutions. Core ResponsibilitiesLead land development and civil engineering projects including drainage, stormwater systems, water systems, sanitary sewer systems, parking facilities, and roadway infrastructureUtilize Civil 3D and stormwater management software to develop exhibits, engineering plans, and construction documentationPerform stormwater design, drainage analysis, and permitting coordination for land development projectsReview local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance throughout project design and permitting processesAnalyze reports, surveys, topographic data, and engineering documentation to support project planning and design decisionsMake independent engineering decisions while coordinating closely with senior leadership and multidisciplinary project teamsEnsure project deliverables meet quality standards, budgets, schedules, and internal QA/QC requirementsConduct site investigations and provide construction observation support during active project phasesParticipate in business development efforts including proposal development, client acquisition, and relationship managementMentor junior engineers and support technical staff development across project teamsCoordinate with clients, municipalities, consultants, and internal teams to maintain successful project delivery and communication Required QualificationsLicensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license requiredExperience: Minimum 8 years of civil engineering and land development experienceTechnical Expertise: Strong knowledge of land development engineering, stormwater management, drainage design, and permitting coordinationSoftware: Proficiency in Civil 3D and stormwater analysis/design softwareRegulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of local, state, and federal codes, standards, and permitting requirementsProject Management: Experience managing project budgets, schedules, staffing, and multidisciplinary coordination effortsLeadership: Proven ability to mentor engineering teams and oversee QA/QC processesCommunication: Strong client-facing communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skillsWork Authorization: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship requirements Preferred QualificationsBusiness development and client relationship management experienceExperience leading and developing multiple project teams simultaneouslyStrong understanding of municipal and educational infrastructure projectsTeam-oriented mindset with strong organizational and multitasking abilitiesExperience supporting proposal writing and strategic project pursuits About RTM Engineering Consultants RTM Engineering Consultants is a nationally recognized MEP, Civil, and Structural engineering firm dedicated to building deep partnerships with clients through collaborative project delivery and integrated engineering solutions.
