Production Mechanic Supervisor
Qualifications Required:
Should possess a minimum experience of at least 5-7 years in a supervisory/Manager role in a liquids packaging Operation.
Must be familiar with filling and packaging equipment to increase the uptime and recommend new equipment acquisitions to reduce labor.
Must be able to troubleshoot with the mechanics when a break down happens and aid with the repair process.
Must be focused on optimizing the operating costs of the various maintenance/Mechanics related projects.
Should be able to coordinate between mechanics and other staff in processing the specific maintenance assignments or requirements.
Must implement maintenance safety rules and properly upgrade any systems as required.
The interested candidates should be able to initiate urgent repairs, be flexible to change priorities, monitor and finish them within a specified period.
Must be able to understand cleaning and sanitization procedures for filling equipment and oversee the process and documentation to assure compliance with cGMPs.
Must be fully literate in cGMPs to effectively execute the activities required by the role under all the regulatory guidelines.
The position requires professional and thorough documentation of the regular activities of the maintenance department including a PM Program.
Good Communication skills, detailed oriented, Computer literate especially Microsoft office, excel, Outlook, word.
Job duties and Responsibilities:
The Production Mechanics Supervisor is a hands-on role that involves leading a team operating in three shifts of packaging mechanics and cleaning and sanitization of equipment staff. The candidate oversees various tasks such as cleaning and sanitization of production equipment, set-ups, troubleshooting, monitoring equipment performance, and conducting preventative maintenance activities. This crucial position plays a key role in effective communication between production and quality teams, ensuring the agreed-upon plan is executed seamlessly.
Responsibilities include the safe maintenance, repair, or replacement of production equipment and systems to uphold maximum production safety, quality, and productivity. The Production Mechanics Supervisor actively supports the company's policies, goals, and objectives. They are responsible for assessing and addressing machine issues, recommending upgrades or replacements for machine parts based on observations.
Additionally, the supervisor will lead a team of production mechanics associates in various projects, requiring strong leadership skills. Experience in Contract Manufacturing is essential, and the individual must be compliance-driven to meet industry standards and regulations. This role demands a hands-on approach, technical expertise, and effective communication to ensure the smooth operation of production processes.
The Production Mechanics Supervisor will have the following responsibilities including but not limited to:
Participate in objective setting, plan development and performance review of Equipment performance.
Initiates, implements, and manages the production maintenance program based on best practices in the industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive and predictive maintenance.
Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
Supervises production maintenance personnel.
Ensures that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
Provide maintenance leadership to ensure department/plant goals are met or exceeded in critical success areas (Cost/Quality/Sanitation/System Performance/Customer Service/Health/Safety/Environment).
Communicates regularly with all maintenance technicians, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues.
Assists with hiring of maintenance personnel.
Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance technicians.
Ensures that all maintenance technicians are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures.
Reviews the operation of production equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solving problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
Helps projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
Tracks, analyzes, and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc.
Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
Directs, maintains, and enforces the safety program for the maintenance department; reviews records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance technicians.
Communicates directly with QA to ensure effective participation by the maintenance technicians in the implementation of QA SOP’s, policies, and procedures.

Education and Pertinent/Experience:
The minimum requirements for education and experience are listed below. Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Associates degree from two-year college in a related technical field or certificate or diploma from trade school in related field and five years’ experience in the filling/packaging and/or operation of a custom manufacturing facility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
In-depth knowledge of contract manufacturing maintenance and associated equipment is an asset.
Experience with repairs and maintenance of processing equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises maintenance staff.
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Assists with interviewing, hiring, and training maintenance employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software, e.g., word processing, email, and spreadsheets.
