Comstock employees are members of Local Union #3 - IBEW and are eligible for comprehensive union benefits for themselves and immediate family members, including, but not limited to:Local Union #3 Pension (after 5 years)IBEW Pension (after 5 years)NEBF (National Electrical Benefit Fund)Medical, Dental, and Health Reimbursement coverageEducational and Cultural FundDeferred salary and annuity fund plansSocial Security PaybackPaid sick leave, vacation, and bereavement (subject to contract negotiations)Compensation$90000 - $118000 / yearPosition SummaryThe Quality Engineer performs engineering design reviews on contract documents, specifications and construction submittals for quality assurance in support of project delivery.Primary/Essential Responsibilities and DutiesPerforms Quality management on engineering design and construction processes and procedures to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project requirementsReviews engineering design reports, disposition inspection and test plans and quality plans and procedures to ensure quality complianceAssists with review, analysis, and reporting on contract design documentsConducts quality surveillance and auditsDevelops checklists and reports on quality audits, construction surveillance and assessments on assigned design and construction contracts.Assists in developing Quality processes or procedures to ensure consistency, visibility, traceability, and effectiveness of consultant and contractor's work.Interfaces with other departments, construction contractors, design consultants and third parties to discuss quality statusReviews, analyzes, and reports on quality issues in the design, construction, and operational phases of projectsAnalyzes and reports on nonconforming issues and corrective/preventive actions.Assists in the development of operational and maintenance quality plans and proceduresRequired Skills and QualificationsBachelor's Degree in civil engineering or closely related field with four years of experience in design and construction management in transportation/track related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experienceOperational characteristics, services, and activities of a quality assurance program.Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.Principles and practices of design and construction quality management.Quality assurance and assessment practices and procedures and reliability requirements.Design, construction management, construction inspection, and project management principles and practices related to transportation/transit projects.Engineering design drawings and standards, construction specifications.Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and statistical databases.Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsFrequently works outdoors at construction sites and occasionally works indoors.Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, stoops, and crouches while negotiating work areas under construction.Sits, reads, writes, and uses a keyboard.May be exposed to harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weatherMay be exposed to loud noise.Footer - EEORailWorks is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
