Shape the Story. Serve the Community.The Town of Riverdale Park is seeking a strategic, hands-on Communications Manager to lead the Town's community engagement. This is more than a communications roleits a leadership position responsible for ensuring residents, businesses, and stakeholders receive clear, timely, and trusted information.If youre a strong writer, a sharp thinker, and someone who can move from strategy to execution without missing a beat, this role puts you at the center of it all.What Youll DoLead and execute the Towns communications and public engagement strategyServe as the primary media contact and manage all public information requests, including MPIAWrite, edit, and deliver high-quality content across all platformspress releases, newsletters, website, and official communicationsProduce and oversee the Town Crier and digital communications (email, social media, website)Record and prepare official meeting minutes for Mayor & Council and Boards/CommissionsManage branding, messaging, and visual identity across all Town communicationsCoordinate marketing and outreach for Town programs, services, and initiativesOversee multimedia production (video, photography, cable programming)Monitor engagement metrics and adjust strategies based on performanceBuild and maintain strong relationships with media, residents, businesses, and community stakeholdersSupport real-time communications during emergencies and critical incidentsWhat You BringBachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field (or equivalent experience)Minimum of five (5) years of professional communications, media relations, or public information experienceExceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skillsExperience managing digital platforms, websites, and social mediaAbility to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressureStrong judgment, discretion, and attention to detailWhat You Need to KnowValid drivers license requiredCPR, AED, and First Aid certification required within 12 monthsAbility to work evenings, weekends, and during emergencies as neededCompensation & BenefitsThe Town offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package valued at approximately $54,000 annually, including:Employer-supported health, dental, and vision insuranceRetirement plan with employer contribution (defined benefit and/or defined contribution options)Employer-paid life and disability insurancePaid leave (vacation, sick, and holidays)Professional development and training opportunitiesFlexible/hybrid work optionsComprehensive insurance coverage, including workers compensationWork EnvironmentThis role operates in both office and field settings and requires regular presence throughout the community to support media coverage, public engagement, and on-site communications.
