Fitness Attendant

Job Title This position is responsible to help support the City of Merriam's mission by helping to present a safe, sanitary, friendly, and fun patron experience, performing duties in a safe manner, while promoting the City's values.Essential Functions:Provide a high level of hospitality to patrons of the Community Center to include guest assistance and fitness equipment education.Inspect and evaluate the fitness equipment and report signs of wear to supervisor.Understand and enforce all facility policies.Control overuse/monopolization of equipment during peak hours.Supervise guest activities in gymnasium, fitness center, and walking track.Provides basic first aid to patrons, as needed.Stock towels for patron use and assists in the laundering of community center property.Assist with fitness center orientations helping to educate patrons on the proper use of fitness equipment.Assist with special event set-up, to include tables and chairs, event-specific equipment, and room preparation.Serves as birthday party room host.Ensure the fitness area remains clean and organized by performing light maintenance duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, and disinfecting equipment to ensure a sanitary and clean patron experience.Carries out all duties in a safe manner and in keeping with industry standards.Promotes City values at all times.Other duties as assigned.Requirements:Must be at least 16 years of age.Must have knowledge of a variety and use of fitness equipment.Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.Basic mathematical computations.Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.Ability to type with minimal errors.Knowledge of personal computers and Windows-based software.Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all members of the public.
