Reporting directly to an Associate Portfolio Manager on the Asset Allocation Team, the Investment Analyst is a core member of the investment team and will contribute to real-world investment decision-making, portfolio construction and strategy, and cross-functional initiatives.Key Duties And ResponsibilitiesConduct In-Depth Investment Analysis: Perform comprehensive analysis of investment opportunities, market trends, and portfolio performance using advanced analytical techniques and data modelingPortfolio Construction & Pricing: support portfolio construction efforts throughout the entire life cycle, including assumptions, optimization, strategic asset allocation creation, model management, and performance tracking for a robust pipeline of various annuity, pension, life insurance liabilities, and other new business opportunitiesPortfolio Management: Support the investment team in managing day-to-day activities for the inforce investment portfolioStakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with internal teams including Actuarial, Enterprise Risk Management, Finance, Operations, and external asset managers to support investment initiativesInvestment Research & Market Analysis: Track, evaluate, and report on developments in financial markets and their impact on portfolio allocations and strategyReporting & Communication: Prepare comprehensive investment reports, performance analytics, and presentations for senior leadership and investment committee meetingsRisk Assessment & Monitoring: Analyze investment risks, monitor compliance with investment guidelines, and support the development of risk management frameworksProcess Improvement: Develop or enhance reporting tools to monitor performance, portfolio allocation relative to strategic asset allocation, risk limits, asset manager mandates and other key initiativesAI: Utilize AI tools to improve portfolio management, drive productivity, and automate rote processes.Other tasks as assigned Required Education And ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, or related quantitative field0-3 years of experience in investments, asset management, insurance/reinsurance, or related financial services roleDemonstrated academic excellence and interest in investments through coursework or extra-curricular involvementComfort working with large datasets and complex financial modelsRequired SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and analytical toolsBasic knowledge of insurance industry, capital markets, fixed income, and/or alternative investments preferredFamiliarity with portfolio analytics, asset allocation concepts, and investment performance metricsBasic proficiency or ability to learn data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or similar platformsExcellent analytical and quantitative skills with high attention to detailAbility to take initiative, work independently, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentComfort with uncertainty and the ability to solve complex, open-ended problemsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey analytical insightsIntellectual curiosity and strong interest in financial markets, portfolio construction, and investment strategyProgress towards CFA or other pertinent professional certifications (e.g. ASA, FSA, CAIA)Experience with quantitative strategic asset allocationUnderstanding of derivatives and hedgingReinsurance knowledge or experienceFamiliarity with life insurance regulatory regimes (e.g. BMA, NAIC, Solvency II)Advanced coding skills (e.g. Python, SQL)Location and TravelMartello Re welcome candidates located in Charlotte, NC, or within a reasonable commuting distance to our Charlotte office.
