Experienced Medical Assistant (San Antonio)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate candidate to join our clinical team. As a medical assistant in our practice, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our providers in delivering exceptional services. The ideal candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills, leadership skills, attention to detail, and a genuine desire to grow in dermatology.This role will be located at both our San Antonio & Castroville clinics, travel is required.Responsibilities: Patient Care:Assist providers in patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.Collect and record patient medical history and vital signs.Educate patients on prescribed medications, skincare routines, and post-treatment care.Administrative Tasks:Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar as needed.Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.Handle medication pre-authorizations.Procedure Assistance:Prepare and assist in dermatological procedures, surgeries, and minor surgical interventions.Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of medical instruments and equipment.Assist in the documentation of procedural notes and patient follow-up.Patient Communication:Communicate with patients to relay treatment plans, follow-up appointments, and test results.Respond to patient inquiries, both in person and over the phone, with professionalism and empathy.Collaboration:Work closely with other medical staff and administrative personnel to ensure seamless patient care.Collaborate with dermatologists and nursing staff to provide a coordinated approach to patient treatment.Create the clinical team's schedule, oversee the team's operations, work with management to create and adhere to protocols.Education:High School Diploma or equivalent; Pursuit or completion of MA Certification preferred.Experience:Previous experience in the Dermatology field preferredFamiliarity with electronic medical records (EMR) or a willingness to learn - we use EMAExperience with patient charting (i.e., scribing patient history, doctor’s diagnosis description and treatment plans,including prescriptions and patient instructions into patient chart, in detail)2 plus years’ experience working in a medical officeExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail and well organizedAbility to manage multiple tasksA great attitudeKnowledgeable of OSHA and HIPAA complianceKnowledge of medical/dermatology terminology and abbreviations preferredSkills:Strong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to stay organized and work in a fast paced environment.Willingness to learn and grow within the organization.Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. Physical Requirements:Must be able to spend a great deal of the day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies.
