Title: Senior Back-End Engineer — Java/Kotlin, Ktor, JVM TechnologiesType: Full-time / Perm / HybridLocation: Chicago, IL Base Salary Range: $135K - $185K (DOE)Please Note: No Sponsorship / No C2C Summary:This role is part of a cross-functional Engineering Team focused on building secure, reliable, high-performing back-end engineering services, and engineering consulting. You will contribute to the design, development, and ongoing improvement of server-side applications that support modern, scalable products.Engineering Approach:Strong emphasis on code quality, including practices such as Test‑Driven Development (TDD) and mature CI/CD Workflows.Use of service-layer patterns that provide clean, consistent data interfaces to client applications.Cloud‑based environment with attention to scalability, maintainability, and comprehensive monitoring, using industry‑standard tooling.Ideal Candidate:Senior-level Back-End Engineer/Developer with 6+years of hands-on experience working with Java/Kotlin, OpenTelemetry, Ktor, and JVM-based technologies.Strong consulting background in a consultancy environment.Strong skills with Java/Kotlin, OpenTelemetry, Ktor, and JVM-based technologies.Enjoys solving complex problems and contributing to thoughtful technical design.Eager to learn, grow, and take on new challenges.Collaborative, open to diverse perspectives, and motivated by meaningful impact.Passionate about using technology to build forward‑thinking solutions.Must (CURRENTLY) live in Chicago, IL or Greater Chicago.Must be willing to work on-site 3 days a week in Chicago.Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Green Card Holder.Must not need any type of sponsorship or C2C requirements.
