Engineering Technician - 100% Travel
Traveling Engineer Technician System One is seeking Traveling Engineer Technicians to support FAA communications and telecommunications infrastructure projects throughout the Southwest/Central U.S. region. This is a 100% travel-based field position supporting installation, integration, testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and infrastructure upgrade activities at active project sites. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience supporting fiber optics, structured cabling, telecom systems, RF communications, electronics troubleshooting, wireless infrastructure, or complex electrical/electronic equipment in field environments.Compensation & SchedulePay Rate: Approx. $25-$35/hrAdditional Health & Welfare Pay: $4.93/hr paid for the first 40 hours worked each weekDuration: 6-month contract to start with strong potential for temp-to-hire based on performance and workloadSchedule: Monday-Friday | Approx. 7:00 AM – 4:00 PMOvertime: 10-20% overtime expected during deploymentsWork Location: 100% field-based travel throughout the Southwest/Central U.S.Travel InformationCandidates can be based anywhere in the U.SCandidates with a personally owned vehicle are highly preferred for transportation to and from project sitesEmployees are deployed for extended periods and typically return home approximately every six weeksAll approved travel expenses are reimbursed at current GSA government ratesResponsibilitiesSupport site preparation for contractor installation of communications racks ranging from wall-mounted racks to multi-rack configurationsInstall critical power circuits, grounding systems, convenience outlets, cable trays, conduits, and related infrastructure as specified within engineering packagesInstall and support fiber optic cabling, telecom infrastructure, monitors, voice recorder systems, and communications equipmentSupport LTE antenna installation activities and establish cable pathways for communications infrastructureInstall, terminate, splice, solder, repair, and replace various wire types including coaxial, shielded, stranded, and solid-core wiringRemove and replace electrical components, wire bundles, terminal blocks, connectors, and related hardwareTest and troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems utilizing schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, technical publications, and related documentationTroubleshoot, align, calibrate, and repair communications and audio equipment to the component levelSupport testing, operational verification, inspections, and commissioning activities to ensure systems are fully operationalInstall sensors, radios, computers, cabling, and communications systems in fast-paced field environments and varying weather conditionsSupport redline updates and field documentation activities during construction and installation effortsPerform additional field installation and technical support duties as assignedRequirementsHigh school diploma or GED requiredValid driver’s license requiredAbility to travel up to 100%Ability to lift at least 50 lbsComfortable working outdoors and in extreme weather conditionsBasic Microsoft Office, internet, and email skillsPreferred QualificationsMilitary, trade school, technical school, or advanced electronics training preferred5+ years of experience supporting fiber optics, telecom systems, RF communications, or complex electronic equipmentExperience with OTDR testing, telecom cabling, wireless systems, or communications infrastructure preferredExperience maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, or installing electronic transmitting/receiving equipmentAbility to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentationExperience supporting radar, radio, telecommunications, networking, or navigational systems preferredStrong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and field coordination abilities System One, and its subsidiaries including Joulé, ALTA IT Services, and Mountain Ltd., are leaders in delivering outsourced services and workforce solutions across North America.
