The role is responsible for the repair and maintenance of off-road heavy industrial equipment for the application of drilling, workover and abandonment of oil and gas wells.
Key responsibilities (not limited to)
Perform inspection, diagnostic and analysis on heavy industrial diesel engines using specialist tools and software as necessary.
Perform repairs, replace parts and conduct function testing as necessary.
Perform regular preventative maintenance as prescribed by OEM or Archer schedules including but not limited to fluids, filters, belts, seals, hoses, instrumentation gauges etc.
Service automatic transmissions as necessary and assist in troubleshooting.
Perform diagnostics and repairs with regards to advanced hydraulic systems including gear pumps, vane pumps, piston pumps, directional valves, pressures control / relief valves, flow control valves, check valves.
Diagnoses, troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems within deemed competence of the employee.
Diagnoses, troubleshooting and repair of compressed air systems within deemed competence of the employee.
Work with OEM and other external supplier personnel to solve problems.
Document work undertaken using Archer maintenance system.
Support the maintenance of the inventory and advise of the requirement for critical spares and long lead items.
Travel to offshore locations when required is necessary to support the diagnostic and repair of equipment when it is unable to be performed at the facility.
Operate Forklift Trucks (FLT) to support the movement of equipment around the facility and the loading and unloading of trucks.
Work at elevated heights and operate Ariel Man Lift / Work Platform and maintain working at height inventory logs.
Maintain critical safety equipment for use at height including pre-use inspections. The Mechanic must always report defects immediately and never, under any circumstances, use safety equipment designed to work at heights that is expired or not fit for purpose.
Assist in training and coaching other mechanics and facility personnel as necessary.
Ensure that all safety standards and policies are adhered to, and deficiencies are reported as per policies and guidelines, via the appropriate reporting structure and systems.
Participate in safety audits and hazard hunts as prescribed by the Company.
Ensure that all safety equipment is inspected, maintained and documented in accordance with company policy and OSHA guidelines.
Participate in emergency drills as prescribed by the Company and OSHA guidelines.
Participate in monthly safety meetings.
Maintain a clean and well-organized workshop.
Understand and adhere to the IOGP lifesaving rules.
Assist in maintaining environmental standards.
Qualifications
Education
Minimum – General Education Diploma
Preferable – Higer Education Mechanical / Electrical Diploma or equivalent
Forklift Safety with Hands On Training Included (as per 29 CFR 1910.178)
Qualified Rigger API RP 2D (latest edition) – 8 -hour course
Fall Protection User and Rescue / Working at Heights Training
Fire Fighting / Incipient / Hot Work / Firewatch Training
OPITO Tropical Helicopter Underwater Escape Training with Compressed Air Emergency Breathing system
Swing Rope / Personnel Transfer Training
First Aid / CPR / Bloodborne Pathogen Training
H2S Awareness & Respiratory Protection
Experience:
5+ years’ relevant experience with mechanical role / similar position
Strong and proven mechanical aptitude and understanding of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and basic electrical systems.
Licenses and Special Requirements
Minimum – T2 ASE Certification.
Preferred – T6 ASE Certification.
Preferred – L2 ASE Certification.
Obtain and maintain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
Hold and maintain a valid United States driving license.
Available to work overtime as necessary, on an on-call schedule, and on holidays.
Ability to work at elevated heights.
