Environmental Services Supervisor

We are seeking an Environmental Services Supervisor to join our team in a rural healthcare setting. The successful candidate will assist with recruitment and selection of new associates, schedule and assign work, develop performance standards, and conduct performance appraisals. They will provide ongoing associate development and training, delegate work where appropriate, and conduct performance counseling and discipline. Regularly reviewing work for accuracy and thoroughness and taking corrective action as needed is essential. The supervisor will foster a cooperative work environment, regularly communicating with associates about changes, policies, and VMH issues to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness. They will develop and evaluate departmental policies, manage the budget, ensure compliance with quality standards, and maintain inventory. Responsibilities also include purchasing supplies and developing a Quality Improvement program. Developing and ensuring adherence to Standard Work and Job Breakdown Instructions (JBI), conducting quality checks, and providing JBI training are crucial. Comprehensive training for all employees, including new hires, with Standard Work and job-related JBI’s will be conducted. The supervisor will coordinate schedules and policies related to waste management, window cleaning, and pest control, and manage meeting room setups for various functions within the facility. As a working supervisor, the candidate will assist staff members regularly and oversee cleaning functions for student housing and the VMH guest house. They will prepare and submit the required DNR waste report and document all waste reduction plan activities. A high school diploma or GED is required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred. A minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental services or housekeeping, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role, preferably in a healthcare setting. Proficient computer skills, effective prioritization and management of work, operation of office equipment, composition of business correspondence and reports, understanding and application of safety regulations, basic mathematical calculations, common sense and problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, professional interaction with diverse individuals, maintenance of confidentiality, and ability to meet deadlines.
