Patient Access Representative, Full-TimeThe Patient Access Representative is the first point of contact for patients, business partners, vendors, and employees. A pleasant, professional, polished presence with the ability to troubleshoot and direct inquiries to the appropriate party is required. Completes patient registration activities, performs clerical, and reception duties as assigned.Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent required3 years minimum with registration experience and Epic preferredPrevious clerical experience or leadership experience requiredStrong communication skills requiredWorking knowledge of MS Office applications which include Outlook, Word, and ExcelAbility to work in fast paced environmentAbility to interface with the staff at the insurance carriers, HIM, and Business OfficeAbility to read, write and understand documents, correspondence, and memosAbility to effectively present information one-to-one and in group situations to customers, clients, and other employees in the organizationAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formCritical thinking skills requiredEffective PC skillsPrior experience in medical clerical environment preferredEssential Functions:Admits patients to the Facility following established policies and proceduresAssembles patient forms and confirms patient identificationAnswers telephone courteously and in a quiet, pleasant voiceAccepts and relays messages effectivelyMaintains and protects each patient's right to confidentiality per HIPPA guidelinesIdentifies emergencies and initiates appropriate responseAssumes clerical duties and responsibilities as necessaryMaintains order and cleanliness of the desk and lobby areasAccurately collects co-payments and deductiblesEnsure monies collected are recorded accurately and timelyDemonstrates qualities of Service Excellence. Positive customer service and telephone etiquette by treating all customers with dignity and respectEnsures notifications to insurance have been accurately obtained as requiredEnters charges and E/M Levels as listed on charge sheet as assignedExhibits flexibility in work schedules and assigned tasksMaintains minimal error rate in demographicsMaintains productivity as requested by Patient Access ManagerObtains and verifies patient demographic and financial informationParticipates in group meetings and/or various committeesMakes suggestions for workflow improvementsNotifies Supervisor of any issuesMaintains a positive attitude toward their position and responsibilitiesOther duties as assignedPhysical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
