Bench Technician
*About the Role*
We're looking for an entry-level Bench Technician to join our Service Delivery team. This role is based in-office and centers on preparing, configuring, and deploying laptops and workstations for client orders, from initial setup through packaging and shipment. You'll also help support the team by answering support calls and picking up ticket overflow as needed.
This is a great entry point into IT for someone who's detail-oriented, hands-on, and eager to build a foundation in hardware, deployment, and client support. While the role is primarily in-office, occasional travel to client sites may be required to provide field coverage.
*What You'll Do*
Workstation Setup & Deployment
* Configure new laptops and workstations for client orders, including imaging, software installation, and standard configuration
* Test and verify equipment functionality before it ships or is deployed
* Box up and prepare completed equipment for shipment to clients
* Maintain accurate records of configured and shipped equipment
*Inventory Management*
* Track and maintain equipment inventory, including incoming stock and items staged for deployment
* Keep inventory records current and organized
* Flag low stock or discrepancies to your Team Lead
*Support & Ticket Coverage*
* Answer support calls and assist with ticket overflow for the Service Delivery team
* Provide first-level troubleshooting support for common end-user issues
* Document all actions and client communication clearly on the ticket
* Escalate issues beyond your scope to the appropriate technician, with your Team Lead's input
*Field Coverage*
* Travel to client sites as needed to provide coverage or hands-on support
* Represent Datapath professionally during any in-person client interactions
*Customer Experience*
Our technicians are expected to provide exceptional customer service by:
* Communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical users
* Setting expectations and providing timely updates
* Taking ownership of assigned tasks and tickets until they're resolved or properly escalated
* Building trust through consistent, professional follow-through
*Required Qualifications*
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Reliable transportation and ability to travel to client sites as needed
* Basic familiarity with Windows desktop environments
* Comfortable working with hardware — unboxing, configuring, and packaging equipment
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
* Clear written and verbal communication skills
* Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced environment
*Preferred Experience*
Experience with one or more of the following is a plus, but not required:
* Prior experience with computer hardware setup or imaging
* Experience with a PSA/ticketing platform such as ConnectWise Manage
* Familiarity with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace
* Prior customer service or phone support experience
*What We're Looking For*
Someone who:
* Takes ownership of tasks without being asked
* Is organized and detail-oriented, especially with inventory and shipments
* Communicates clearly and calmly, even when busy
* Is comfortable with hands-on, physical work
* Works well independently and as part of a team
* Values accountability and continuous improvement
