Are you looking for your next opportunity?Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in our North American Payroll team.Our North American Payroll team is responsible for calculating, processing, and reviewing the payroll programs, from start to finish, for approximately 3,000 employees located in the US, Bermuda, and Canada. We are looking for an analytically minded team member, with a solid payroll background, to contribute knowledge and additional support for the Company’s growth and our team’s continued success.Location: This position will be based out of our Alpharetta, GA or Charlotte, NC office and will report to the AVP, Payroll North America.Our business, your impact, our opportunity:What you’ll be doing:Process semi-monthly US and Bermuda payroll (Workday Payroll) and Canada payroll (Ceridian Canada Powerpay)Review US, Bermuda, and Canada payroll details ensuring regulatory and HR SOX controls complianceCommunicate professionally and clearly with internal and external parties regarding payroll-related queries, audit requests, and additional mattersAnalyze and review existing processes for opportunities to achieve improvements, efficiencies, and automationsMaintain knowledge of wage and hour laws, employment tax calculations, and other regulatory requirementsWhat you’ll bring:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or related field of study; Accounting or payroll accounting experience preferredMinimum of 5 years' experience in full-cycle US payroll processing; Workday Payroll experience desiredAbility to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively, particularly during peak processing times, while demonstrating dependability, adaptability, and a sense of urgencyProven proficiency in preparing, reviewing, researching, reconciling and reporting complex payroll data utilizing Excel and HR information systemsDiscretion in handling and maintaining confidential informationKeen eye for detail and the ability to consistently follow established processes and procedures to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payrollsCollaborative mindset with ability to proactively contribute independently and in a team environmentAt Sompo, we recognize that the talent, skills, and commitment of our employees drive our success.
