Electrical Controls & Integration Engineer

Location: Virginia Beach, VAStarting Salary: $80,000+ annually (higher based on experience)A manufacturing company is seeking an Electrical Controls & Integration Engineer to support the design, integration, testing, and commissioning of industrial electrical systems. This role works closely with production, engineering, and sales teams to ensure electrical systems meet specifications, comply with NEC requirements, and are ready for customer delivery.ResponsibilitiesInterpret electrical schematics, blueprints, layouts, and wiring diagramsDevelop electrical drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), and equipment specificationsSupport electrical system design and review project requirements with engineering and sales teamsTrain electricians and production staff on schematic reading, wiring, testing, labeling, and safe work practicesTest, inspect, and troubleshoot completed equipment before shipment, resolving any electrical issuesProvide guidance on electrical component layout, control panel design, and installation standardsPerform electrical load calculations and verify code complianceCoordinate electrical aspects of third-party supplied equipmentDevelop and manage cross-training programs related to electrical assembly and integrationPrioritize multiple projects while maintaining quality and safety standardsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field3+ years of experience designing, installing, and testing industrial electrical equipmentStrong ability to read electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and blueprintsExperience using electrical test equipment, including multimeters, amp meters, and functional testing devicesKnowledge of AC/DC electrical theory and the National Electrical Code (NEC)Experience designing and building industrial control panelsUnderstanding of generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, conduit systems, heating equipment, and related power generation componentsExperience with HMIs, sensors, displays, and basic equipment programmingFuel system integration experience is a plusExcellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skillsAbility to travel to project sites as neededPhysical RequirementsWork in both office and manufacturing environmentsSit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periodsCommunicate effectively with employees, leadership, and customersManage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting while maintaining attention to detailTravel between local facilities and project sites as requiredWe may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information.
