Salary: $20.00 - $25.50/hourly Summary: Mechanical Assembler - Levels 1 - 3 - are responsible for assembling a variety of subassemblies and/or finished products for the Production department. Additional responsibilities include functional tests to meet specifications, quality checks, and on-time deliveries. They report directly to the Production Leads and Production Manager. Essential Functions: Reports to work consistently and on scheduled time. Must follow SIG's Cardinal Rules. Able to work in fast-paced and physically demanding environment. Able to work from Assembly Drawings, verbal instructions, work instructions when available, and production boards. Assemble a variety of subassemblies and finished assembly products. Lubricate align and adjust assemblies for proper operation. Perform operating tests per product checklists. Use common hand tools (manual, air-driven & battery), arbor presses, and hand trucks. Work carefully to prevent scrap and rework. Build products to the established standard. Proactive in identifying and communicating simplification methods and potential cost reductions. Seeks out new challenges. Immediately report any tools or machinery that is not operating properly to the Production Lead or Manager. Communicates effectively. Demonstrates cooperation and collaboration while working toward team success. Has the ability to work both independently and with others. Diversified work requires considerable judgment, initiative, and effective decision-making in the midst of change. Participate in group, department, and safety meetings. Customer-orientated and works to exceed customer expectations. Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment, including the use and implementation of 5S. Package, and add all components and documents, in the Finished Product shipment. Record production data daily. Assist in the training of less qualified employees. Able to read/understand blueprints and shop drawings. Detailed understanding of part/product specifications and tolerances. Cross-trained on multiple assembly products. Participate in group, department, and safety meetings. Assist in training and mentoring less experienced employees. Take a leadership role related to safety observations, JSA's, work instructions, and reporting. Not all duties assigned to every position are included, nor is it expected that all positions will be assigned every duty. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Level 1 Ability to communicate effectively. Build assemblies and finished equipment to technical drawings and specifications. Ability to use hand tools to attach and fasten parts together. Knowledge of measuring tools and ability to make accurate dimensional measurements. Ability to use checklists and ensure quality control on all work. 6 months - 1 year of experience preferably in a manufacturing assembly environment. High school diploma or equivalent preferred Level 2 Able to perform All Level 1 (Listed above) Functions and Qualifications effectively. Ability to mentor learned experience to less experienced employees. Knowledge of part specific information and understanding problem solving skills when encountering quality errors. Work individually on given assembly task without needed assistance on standard assembly task. Proficient in use of hand tools and machinery used in Production Department. Basic shop math skills are required. Basic knowledge of PC applications is required. Works scheduled OT consistently as required. 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing assembly environment. Forklift Experience Level 3 Able to perform ALL Level 2 (Listed Above) Functions and Qualifications effectively. Ability to function in leadership roles. Ability to individually analyze parts and subassemblies for functional quality defects. Consistently demonstrates the ability to work individually on any given mechanical assembly task to completion without needing assistance. Consistently demonstrates the ability to assist lower-level assembly employees to finish task to completion. Able to travel to customer facilities for assignments and represent company respectively as required. 2-3 years of experience in manufacturing assembly environment. High school diploma or equivalent required. 2 years Technical or Vocational degree preferred. Experience As listed per Level. Education As listed per Level.
