Principal Flight Software Engineer
We are seeking a Principal Flight Software Engineer to lead the architecture, development, integration, and validation of mission-critical flight software supporting next-generation space systems. This role serves as a technical authority across spacecraft programs, ensuring robust, fault-tolerant, and secure software solutions for national security missions.
Key responsibilities include leading software development across the full lifecycle—requirements, design, integration, testing, and flight operations—and working closely with systems, avionics, GNC, mission operations, and cybersecurity teams to shape software strategy across LEO, MEO, GEO, and responsive space architectures.
Qualifications
BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering
10+ years of experience developing embedded and real-time software for space, aerospace, robotics, or other mission-critical systems
Led software development across the full lifecycle: requirements, design, integration, testing, and flight operations
Strong proficiency in C/C++ with working knowledge of Python or scripting for automation and testing
Experience with RTOS, bare-metal development, and Linux-based embedded systems
Deep expertise in software reliability, deterministic timing, concurrency, and resource management in constrained environments
Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
Preferred: Experience with flight software frameworks (e.g., NASA cFS, F'/F Prime, or custom architectures)
Preferred: Familiarity with MBSE practices and interface control documentation (ICDs)
