Job Title - Battery Management System (BMS) Hardware Design Engineer – Power ElectronicsLocation - Milwaukee, WisconsinJob DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced BMS Hardware Design Engineer with strong expertise in power electronics and EV hardware systems to support next-generation Battery Management System (BMS) and electric vehicle component development initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in hardware circuit design for DC-DC converters, inverters, and high-voltage automotive power electronics systems.This role involves end-to-end hardware development, schematic design, component selection, circuit simulation, testing, validation, and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams supporting EV and battery technologies.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop hardware circuits for Battery Management Systems (BMS), DC-DC converters, inverters, and EV power electronics components.Perform schematic capture, circuit analysis, and PCB-level hardware design for automotive electronic systems.Support design, development, and validation of high-voltage and low-voltage power electronics architectures.Work on power conversion systems including battery charging, voltage regulation, and energy management circuits.Conduct hardware testing, debugging, validation, and root cause analysis for electrical and thermal performance issues.Collaborate with firmware, systems, mechanical, and manufacturing teams throughout the product development lifecycle.Support component selection, EMI/EMC considerations, reliability analysis, and DFMEA activities.Participate in prototype bring-up, bench testing, and hardware verification activities.Ensure designs comply with automotive quality, safety, and regulatory standards.Required Skillsyears of experience in hardware design for automotive or EV power electronics systems.Strong experience with DC-DC converters, inverters, and power electronics circuit design.Experience working on Battery Management Systems (BMS) or EV electronic components.Good understanding of analog and digital circuit design principles.Experience with schematic design and PCB development tools such as Altium, Cadence, OrCAD, or similar.Strong knowledge of power semiconductors, MOSFETs, IGBTs, gate drivers, and protection circuits.Experience with hardware validation, debugging, and lab equipment usage including oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and multimeters.Familiarity with automotive communication protocols such as CAN is a plus.Strong problem-solving and communication skills.Preferred SkillsExperience in automotive EV domain or battery technologies.Exposure to functional safety standards such as ISO 26262.Knowledge of thermal management and EMI/EMC considerations.Experience working with OEMs or Tier-1 automotive suppliers.Familiarity with simulation tools such as LTspice, PSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, or Saber.
