Travel PCU/Stepdown Nurse (RN) | Concord, North Carolina
Job Description
Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.Nurses with strong experience in stepdown care are needed to deliver exceptional patient care on a dynamic, 16-bed private room unit at a well-regarded hospital and teaching center. The role involves supporting cardiovascular and medical overflow patients, collaborating with a dedicated interdisciplinary team, and floating within a defined region as needed.Schedule & Hours:Schedule is based on a 6-week cycleEvery other weekend rotation requiredHoliday coverage expected (75% of holidays)No on-call requirementUp to 6 days off may be approved (excluding holidays; must extend contract if hours aren't met)Qualifications:Active RN licenseMinimum 18 months of recent Cardiac Telemetry or PCU RN experience preferredBLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredProficiency in:PIV startsNG tube placement/managementPleurx and various surgical drainsChest tube managementStrong teamwork orientation; willingness to float within the designated regionEPIC EMR familiarity and comfortable using advanced technology such as Alaris pumps and Omnicell medication dispensingKey Responsibilities:Manage post-cardiac surgery, heart failure, chest pain, and catheterization patientsAdminister IV cardiac medications and monitor telemetryCoordinate care with CNAs, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and resource nursesEnsure timely discharges and admissions in a fast-paced environment (average 6-8 discharges each day shift)Provide high-level patient advocacy and safety with average ratios of 1 RN:4 patientsWhat We Offer:Free parkingSupportive, team-oriented environmentComprehensive orientation program (unit-based & facility-wide)Modern equipment and resourcesOpportunities to work at a trauma center and teaching hospitalEmbrace a rewarding nursing assignment where every day brings new opportunities to learn and contribute.
