Salary : $37,876.80 - $47,361.60 Annually Location : Los Lunas Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 202300123 Department: Finance Division: Utility Billing Division Opening Date: 05/06/2026 Closing Date: 5/27/2026 5:00 PM Mountain FLSA: Non-Exempt Bargaining Unit: N/ADescriptionPosition Overview: The Utility Billing Clerk/Cashier at the Village of Los Lunas plays a crucial role in providing efficient and accurate payment processing and customer service to Village residents. Reporting to the Utility Billing Supervisor, the Utility Billing Clerk/Cashier is responsible for handling payments, addressing customer concerns, and supporting the daily operations of the Utility Billing Office. Responsibilities:Payment Processing:Accept payments in the form of cash, checks, and debit/credit cards from Village residents. Accurately record and receipt all transactions, ensuring proper documentation and compliance. Reconcile cash drawer at the end of each shift to maintain accurate accounting. Customer Service:Provide exceptional customer service to Village residents in person and over the phone. Answer up to 50 inbound calls and make up to 25 outbound calls to address customer inquiries and concerns. Assist customers with billing questions, payment arrangements, and other related matters. Support to Supervisor:Work diligently on additional tasks assigned by the Utility Billing Supervisor. Assist in preparing reports, data entry, and other administrative tasks as needed. Other Duties:Assist with maintaining organized and accurate records of payments and transactions. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation of the Utility Billing Office. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or department head. Requirements:High school diploma or GED certificate. 2-3 years of customer service experience, demonstrating effective communication and interpersonal skills. 1-2 years of cash handling experience, including managing a cash drawer with a minimum of $1000. Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in payment processing and recordkeeping. Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment and multitask effectively. Proficiency in using basic office equipment and technology. Strong ethical conduct and professionalism in handling financial transactions. Basic knowledge of utility billing processes and procedures is a plus. Positive attitude and a customer-focused mindset.
