Title: Mid-Level Full Stack Software Engineer (Cloud API Platform) Location : DC Metro Area Target Start Date : ASAP Type: contract Pay Rate: DOE Build the APIs That Power an Enterprise Platform We're looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to help build and enhance an enterprise API platform that enables secure data exchange across mission-critical applications. You'll work on modern cloud-native services, secure file transfer capabilities, developer-facing APIs, and authentication services that are used across a large-scale technology ecosystem. This is an opportunity to work on highly visible platform engineering initiatives where you'll own features end-to-end—from backend services and cloud infrastructure to lightweight Angular interfaces supporting developer experiences. What You'll Do Design & Build Enterprise APIs Design and develop scalable RESTful APIs and cloud-native microservices using Java/Spring Boot or Python/FastAPI. Build secure, high-performance services supporting enterprise data exchange and developer platforms. Develop and maintain lightweight Angular applications used for administration, API management, and developer self-service. Contribute to secure credential management, authentication workflows, and API lifecycle capabilities. Collaborate with product owners, architects, and fellow engineers to deliver scalable platform capabilities. Cloud Engineering & Platform Development Build solutions leveraging AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/Fargate, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, and related cloud technologies. Develop containerized applications using Docker and modern cloud deployment patterns. Participate in the modernization of CI/CD pipelines as the organization transitions from Jenkins to GitLab. Implement Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, and secure deployment practices. Engineering Excellence Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and peer code reviews. Troubleshoot complex issues across cloud infrastructure, APIs, databases, and frontend components. Build resilient, secure, and highly available services that support enterprise-scale workloads. Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity while maintaining code quality and security standards. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. 5–7 years of professional software engineering experience. Strong Java and/or Python development experience. Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices. Angular experience (2–3 years) with TypeScript. Experience with AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, ECS/Fargate, S3, and DynamoDB. Experience with MongoDB and relational databases such as PostgreSQL. Docker and containerization experience. Experience working with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab. Solid understanding of application security and secure API development. Preferred Qualifications Experience with GraphQL. Experience working on API platforms, developer portals, or identity and credential management solutions. Experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka, SNS, SQS, or Kinesis. Familiarity with observability tools such as Splunk, CloudWatch, Grafana, or Datadog. Experience working in regulated or highly secure enterprise environments.
