Because at UKG, your work matters—and so do you.We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer – DevOps / Cloud Platform Engineering to join our Engineering Platform Continuous Delivery team. The ideal candidate is passionate about building scalable cloud infrastructure, automating software delivery, and improving developer productivity through modern DevOps practices. You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and operating cloud-native platforms while enabling engineering teams with secure, reliable, and automated deployment pipelines.Desired Technical SkillsWe are looking for engineers with strong experience in the following areas:CI/CD & Automation GitHub Actions (GHA) and reusable workflowsCI/CD pipeline design, implementation, and optimizationRelease automation and deployment strategiesInfrastructure and application automationCloud Platforms Google Cloud Platform (GCP) (preferred) or AWS/AzureCloud networking, IAM, storage, compute, and managed servicesCloud operations, monitoring, logging, and troubleshootingHigh availability, scalability, and disaster recovery conceptsInfrastructure as Code (IaC) Terraform for provisioning and managing infrastructureInfrastructure lifecycle managementConfiguration management using AnsibleContainers & Platform Engineering Docker and KubernetesContainer orchestration and platform operationsHelm charts and Kubernetes resource management (preferred)Scripting & Programming Python for automation and toolingShell/Bash scriptingREST APIs and automation frameworksResponsibilitiesCloud Platform EngineeringDesign, build, automate, and maintain secure, scalable, and reliable cloud infrastructure on GCP.Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and Ansible to provision and manage cloud resources.Build reusable platform capabilities that improve developer productivity and operational efficiency.CI/CD & AutomationDesign, implement, and maintain GitHub Actions workflows and enterprise CI/CD pipelines.Automate build, test, deployment, and release processes for cloud-native applications and platform services.Improve deployment reliability, reduce manual effort, and optimize delivery pipelines.Platform OperationsMonitor platform health, availability, and performance using modern observability tools.Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.Maintain high availability and operational excellence across cloud environments.Infrastructure & ReliabilityManage Kubernetes clusters, container platforms, and cloud infrastructure.Implement scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud solutions following industry best practices.Continuously improve infrastructure through automation and standardization.Software Development & AutomationDevelop automation tools and scripts using Python and Bash to eliminate repetitive operational tasks.Build reusable internal tools and services that enhance platform capabilities.Technical LeadershipParticipate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews.Review infrastructure and automation code to ensure quality, maintainability, security, and adherence to best practices.Mentor team members on DevOps, cloud technologies, and platform engineering practices.DevOps OwnershipTake end-to-end ownership of platform services from design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and production support.Collaborate closely with development, security, and operations teams to deliver reliable cloud platforms.DocumentationCreate and maintain documentation for platform architecture, automation workflows, deployment processes, and operational runbooks.Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.  4+ years of professional software development experience.  Deep expertise in one or more programming languages such as C#, .NET, Python, Java, or JavaScript.  Extensive experience with software development practices and design patterns.  Proficiency with version control systems like GitHub and bug/work tracking systems like JIRA.  Understanding of cloud technologies and DevOps principles.  Preferred Qualifications:  Experience with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.  Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.  Experience with test automation frameworks and tools.  Knowledge of agile development methodologies.  Familiarity with developing accessible technologies.  Dedicated to diversity and inclusion initiatives.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.This position may perform work with the U.S. government therefor Ideal candidate should be a U.S. citizenCompany OverviewUKG is the Workforce Operating Platform that puts workforce understanding to work. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and work location. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible to participate in a performance-based bonus plan and to receive restricted stock unit awards as part of total compensation.
