Store Manager (Wilsonville--New Location)

We currently have an opening for a STORE MANAGER reporting to the Director of Sales. JOB SUMMARY: Maximize profit at the assigned store location through the acquisition and retention of friendly, knowledgeable and competent staff, and application of marketing, merchandising, sales, and administrative disciplines. Establish written expectations related to performance, use of policy and procedures, and compliance and audit mechanisms (i.e. discipline procedures, training, etc.). Additional tasks as required. PLUS FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ADVANCEMENT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Personnel Manage department staff including, but not limited to,: Responsible for scheduling of all subordinate staff. Track and approve/disapprove requests for time off. Review and correct staff time records to facilitate accurate payroll processing. Track staff attendance and enact discipline as necessary. Track the performance, behavior, and policy and procedural compliance of staff, taking corrective action as needed. Complete annual performance reviews for staff and propose wage adjustments (must be completed and submitted to payroll within 10 calendar days from anniversary date). Identify current staff training needs and ensure staff training is completed according to current and revised policies and procedures, follow-up where necessary. Develop training procedures and manage the training of department new hires. Effectively staff and create schedules for your department according to the fluctuating needs. Inform HR of staffing changes and needs via proper HR forms. Team with HR to project future staffing needs, including possible staff transfers to other departments, or other positions within the department. Inform HR of current staffing needs, interview and select final candidates. Annually, team with HR to confirm accuracy of job description for each position in department and applicability and validity of each component of each position's compensation and bonus program. Hold departmental meetings at an acceptable frequency to maximize staff productivity. Ensure staff complies with all safety rules, address unsafe work behaviors, submit required paperwork for injured workers to Safety Lead within 24 hours. Site and Sales Management Responsible for gathering shopping reports from salespeople in the direct chain of command, as well as reconciling those results with merchandising decisions within subordinate staff's assigned product categories. Propose specific ad items (product, pricing, and benefits) for product categories assigned to you to the Director of Advertising (or designee) and Buyer for all newspaper or electronic media advertising; reconcile ad response forms and shopping reports to verify effectiveness of ad item decision making. Ensure subordinate staff within assigned product categories propose to the Director of Advertising and Buyer strategy for specific items in ads; responsible for measuring the effectiveness of subordinate staff ad item decision making (and counseling subordinate staff when the results are not favorable). Report results of proposals combined with competitive research to Buyer. Responsible for ensuring that all ad items and alternatives to ad items are on the floor and tagged before the first day of all ad runs. Responsible for ensuring salespeople review current and future ads, are tested to ensure they understand selling strategies relevant to all ads, and that they review all competitors' print ads daily. Monitor any outside banner schedule and/or reader board signs, making sure they are reconciled to the current promotion or specific product focus. Attend and participate in Salespeople or Sales Management meetings. Responsible for managing meeting agenda as directed by Director of Sales. Responsible for scheduling daily training meetings for all salespeople, monitoring their attendance, and testing their retention of training content. Hold regular meetings with subordinate and other departmental managers to assess facility security and safety. Responsible for ensuring daily showroom walkthroughs are performed per policy to ensure maximum cleanliness, appearance, and neatness. Responsible for verifying all customers are greeted and appropriately escorted per policy. Responsible for ensuring all phone calls for Salespeople are answered or returned in a timely manner per policy. Responsible for ensuring subordinate staff is trained on how to handle various customer interactions and that subordinate staff commits to total customer satisfaction. Responsible for ensuring subordinate staff is aware of current retail finance promotions and that they follow procedures to effectively execute the promotions. Ensure subordinate sales management staff meets weekly with the buying office to relay merchandising/floor planning and that they confirm daily the accuracy of the floor layout grid. Responsible for creating and maintaining programs to maximize employee, consumer, and guest safety, and preservation of Company assets. Responsible for ensuring subordinate sales managers review sales staff performance at a frequency determined by the Director of Sales, and that they implement corrective action plans for salespeople that fall below minimum performance benchmarks. Monitor voids daily and verify the cause of each voided order. Make every attempt to address customer relations issues relevant to the voided orders (including, when appropriate, the restoration of the voided order). Collect all pertinent data from sales staff, including, but not limited to, leading employee roundtables, and counseling merchandising and buying staff promptly on ways to improve performance within assigned product categories. Team with subordinate sales management and buying office personnel to effectively merchandise electronics and appliance goods. Ensure backorder reports are reviewed per policy and that delivery dates are assigned per policy. Team with other, on-site managers to ensure they are adequately staffed to meet the needs of customers, and that subordinate staff of other on-site managers are compliant with their departmental policies and procedures. Ensure non-prime stock is properly merchandised and priced. Responsible for used sales function of assigned site(s). Assess adjacent land and facilities for ordinance compliance and that its condition is conducive to achieving corporate objectives, especially the crisp, professional presentation of the organization and the delivery of the highest level of customer service. Responsible for preparing subordinate staff to act as Store Manager in their absence. Establish policies and procedures to limit the threat of theft at the store. Sales Support Management (in addition to the Personnel items referenced above) Construct and maintain processes to ensure synergy between the delivery of customer service within the Sales and Sales Support functions of the store. Responsible for ensuring the Sales Support Manager teams with other Store Managers to select and retain competent Sales Support staff and maintain adequate staff levels at all stores. Responsible for ensuring the Sales Support Manager teams with other Store Managers to develop, maintain, and deliver Sales Support staff training systems (includes both new hires, and skill enhancement or expansion of existing staff). Site 01 Warehouse Management (in addition to Personnel items referenced above) Ensure Site 01 Warehouse staff members interact with customers in an appropriate manner. For product movement transactions performed by Site 01 Warehouse staff, ensure the transaction is properly recorded on documents and in the computer, that product is handled in a manner that minimizes or eliminates the potential for injury and/or damage to customer or company property, that the product is placed into the correct location, and that the product is accurately and adequately labeled. Monitor cleanliness of warehouse, parking lot and maintain exterior of store (lawn, trees and planting beds.) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree in Management, Leadership, or Business or equivalent competencies. Prior work experience related to friendly customer service in a fast-paced professional environment. Ability to type a minimum of 30 wpm. Must be detail-oriented; possess good organizational skills. Ability to work on several projects simultaneously. Excellent telephone etiquette. Fluency in English (written & verbal). Strong computer skills and experience, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to work a flexible schedule including Saturdays and/or Sundays and until 7:00 PM, overtime as needed, and work assignments at multiple sites.
