Plumbing Design Engineer
Location: Cincinnati, OhioJob Type: Full-TimeExperience Level: Entry-Level (0–2 years)Position OverviewWe are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and detail-oriented Entry-Level Plumbing Design Engineer to join our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) consulting team. This position is a fantastic launchpad for a graduate or junior professional looking to build a career in building systems engineering.Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will learn to design facility plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems for various building types (commercial, educational, and healthcare). You will gain hands-on experience translating engineering concepts into precise 3D models and construction documents while collaborating with architects and other engineering disciplines.Key ResponsibilitiesDrafting & 3D Modeling: Learn and utilize Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD to produce plumbing floor plans, isometric riser diagrams, and equipment details based on engineering sketches.Engineering Calculations: Learn and perform foundational calculations under senior supervision, including pipe sizing (domestic water, waste, and vent), storm water drainage volume, and basic equipment sizing.System Design Support: Assist in drafting layouts for domestic cold and hot water systems, sanitary drainage, gas piping, and basic fire protection layouts.Code Research: Assist the team in researching international, state, and local building and plumbing codes (IPC, UPC, NFPA) to ensure designs comply with regulatory standards.Interdisciplinary Coordination: Work with the project team to cross-reference plumbing layouts with architectural layouts and other MEP disciplines to ensure system spatial alignment.Site Visits: Accompany senior engineers on occasional field visits to active construction sites or existing buildings to learn about field conditions and project installation.Qualifications & SkillsEducation: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related technical field.Experience: 0–2 years of experience.
