Optomi, in partnership with a leading telecommunications client, is seeking a *100% Remote* Linux Systems Administrator / Engineer to support a fully virtualized RHEL/Linux infrastructure hosted in Microsoft Azure. This is a hands-on role focused on Linux administration, troubleshooting, patching, storage, and infrastructure maintenance across production and engineering environments.Responsibilities:Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot RHEL/Linux virtual machines across production and engineering environments.Perform OS patching, upgrades, package management, and system maintenance.Troubleshoot Linux performance, processes, services, networking, storage, and resource utilization.Manage systemd services, LVM, XFS, filesystems, logical volumes, and virtual storage.Configure and troubleshoot Linux networking, DNS, SSH, LDAP/NSS/PAM/SSSD, and SSL/TLS.Support SMTP/Sendmail services and Nagios or comparable monitoring platforms.Support Linux infrastructure within Microsoft Azure, including connectivity with Azure services and Active Directory.Support Docker and Kubernetes environments running on Linux.Develop Bash scripts to automate administration and operational tasks.Investigate complex production issues, identify root causes, and improve system reliability.Collaborate with engineering teams and document configurations, procedures, and maintenance activities.Participate in planned maintenance and occasional after-hours support (approximately 1–2 times per month).Qualifications:Strong hands-on Linux administration experience, particularly RHEL/Red Hat Enterprise Linux.Strong Linux troubleshooting and operating system knowledge.Experience with yum/dnf, patching, upgrades, systemd, processes, and services.Strong knowledge of LVM, XFS, filesystems, and storage management.Strong Linux networking and troubleshooting skills.Bash scripting experience required.Experience with LDAP, NSS, PAM, and/or SSSD.Experience with SSH administration, security hardening, and SSL/TLS certificates.Experience supporting SMTP/Sendmail and infrastructure monitoring tools such as Nagios.Strong analytical and root-cause troubleshooting skills.Preferred: Microsoft Azure, Docker/Kubernetes, Jenkins/GitLab, DNS, infrastructure automation, Python/Perl, database environments, and large-scale virtualized Linux environments.
