Our culture values employee voice, growth and learning opportunities.Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Engineer to support our Engineering department and Fleet Services Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for project management, installations, repair, and modernization initiatives aboard ships.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMonitors and controls activities at job sites, office, and/or onboard vessels.Ensures projects progress as scheduled and contract specifications are adhered to.Inspects construction sites daily and collaborates with contractors to schedule deliveries.Applies knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items, 9090-310 Technical Specifications, and NSTM standard concepts, practices, and procedures.Leverages experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.Works with Senior Management, Program Managers and Project Leads on Surface and Submarine Alterations, Repair or Fleet Modernization projects.Interfaces with clients and customers regarding tasking.Performs duties outside of specialty to complete work assignment.Experience and SkillsRequirements:Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.Target experience of five (5) years in design, installation, testing and/or repair of ships and ship systems aboard U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command and/or U.S. Coast Guard ships.Direct experience in ship repair and installation of Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) systems on surface ships and submarines.Ability to perform detailed ship checks involving collection of data necessary to develop design modifications for systems and components.Ability to read and interpret ship installation drawings, installation specifications and NAVSEA Standard Items.Must have or be able to obtain a SECRET clearance.Must have or be able to obtain base access and security credentials.Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment of at least 30 lbs.Ability to work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.Travel may be required within and outside the continental United States.U.S. citizenship only due to export control regulations.Additional Requirements:Organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and execute multiple assigned tasks.Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Physical RequirementsExposure to open-air environments, including noisy, hot, and cold conditions.Site visits aboard ships and rigs, both onshore and offshore.Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hearing, eye, head and hand protection as required.Standing on varied surfaces, bending, crouching and climbing over obstructions such as scaffolding and ladders.Exposure to sound levels exceeding 100 decibels.Required visual acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception and night vision for inspecting marine components and systems.Work in confined spaces with limited ventilation.Prolonged periods of sedentary work, including sitting and/or standing.Operation of machinery, power tools and/or heavy equipment as required.Communication proficiency for exchanging information.Frequent exposure to extreme weather conditions.Lift and carry 30 lbs. or more, depending on task.Reasonable Accommodations StatementTo perform this job successfully, an individual must perform the essential job duties satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to the safety or health of employee or others.
