Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department (NOCs/FT)

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) reports to the ED Program Manager and ED Assistant Nurse Manager. The ED RN provides, directs, and supervises the delivery of quality nursing care to a veteran population of varying complexity in the ED.The VA Milwaukee Healthcare System is one of the leading health care systems serving Veterans in the VA Great Lakes Network. Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center is an innovative care center within the Veterans Integrated Service Network 12 (VISN 12). VISN 12 includes medical centers and clinics in Wisconsin, Illinois, northwestern Indiana, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.The Emergency Department Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care:Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines.Provides urgent and emergent care to patients with acute and/or chronic medical, surgical, and psychiatric conditions.Provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement.Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care.Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals.Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations.Documents outcomes at the program or service level.Assesses the patient by collecting pertinent data or information, including the triage of patients based on the five-level triage system to prioritize patients that require more immediate care.Identifies expected outcomes to develop a collaborative and individualized plan for each patient.All other duties, as assigned.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total RewardsPay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awardsPaid Time Off: Up to 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territoryWork Schedule: Full-time (1.0 FTE) - Night shift (NOCs), with variable start times and weekend/holiday rotations.Telework: Not AvailablePermanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized
