Tax Director, Family Office

Position Summary This position requires a highly organized individual who possesses strong initiative and has the ability to complete multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment. This individual must be able to communicate effectively and understands the need to work in an integrated manner with other members of the department in furtherance of goals, objectives, and knowledge. Responsibilities Review, oversight and preparation of complex income tax returns including, but not limited to, Corporations, Partnerships, and Individual returns. Perform quality control review for all financial statements. Facilitate planning and compliance of international tax matters including waivers and tax returns. Review and oversight over the required estimated tax payments. Create, maintain, and adhere to financial and tax reporting policies and procedures. Final review and oversight of year-end shareholder bonus process. Review and oversight of tax preparation work papers and investment reconciliations. Review and oversight over the calculation and distribution of W-2's and 1099's. Prepare and final review of tax correspondence and facilitate and oversee tax audits. Facilitate entity creation and dissolution procedures including attainment of Articles of Incorporation, organizational documents, FEIN applications and 2553's. Train and develop Accounting Managers and Staff Accountants on best business practice related to tax. Responsible for filing all annual reports, franchise tax returns, and other state returns. Prepare and review invoices for tax services performed.Review and oversight over quarterly and annual payroll tax returns. Overall supervision of all tax staff in the support and operations of their assigned business work team. Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience within a Family Office, Business Management Firm, Public Accounting Firm, and/or the Entertainment industry where there would be a good transferability of skills. Wide range of experience with various types of tax returns, in addition to review of financial statements. Proficient use of QuickBooks, Excel, and other tax software and technology. Qualifications Ability to reliably commute to the Tri Star office. BS in Business, specifically in Accounting, Finance, or Economics. MAcc or Masters in Taxation, preferred. 10‑15+ years of experience working in a family office or business management firm, or experience providing financial/tax services for HNWI. 10+ years of management experience overseeing teams in the preparation and review of complex tax returns, including Forms 1120, 1120S, 1040, 1041, and others, required. Active CPA License in CA, required.
