Founded in 2011 as Birdies for Cures, the organization began as a golf event supporting cancer-related causes and has since grown into Champions for Cures — an established force in the philanthropic community committed to advancing cancer research and supporting efforts to find a cure.ROLE OVERVIEWThe Marketing & Operations Coordinator will support strategic growth initiatives and assist with day-to-day operations, working to advance the organization's mission to fight cancer. This is a great opportunity for an early-career professional looking to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, fundraising, and community engagement.This part-time hybrid position based in Westchester, IL with flexibility to work from home. There is potential for this role to grow into a full-time position as the organization expands.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESFUNDRAISING & GROWTHProactively solicit donations, sponsorships, and corporate giving from individuals, businesses, and community partnersRecruit and engage event participants, golfers, and peer-to-peer fundraising captains — actively growing registration and participation year over yearCultivate and steward relationships with donors and prospects through consistent, personalized outreachIdentify and pursue new revenue opportunities, including individual giving, corporate partnerships, and community sponsorshipsSupport the team in hitting annual sponsor, P2P, and overall fundraising goalsGRANTSResearch 5–10 grant and corporate giving programs annually; identify top targets and track deadlines and requirementsGather supporting documentation, draft narratives, and submit grant applicationsTrack submitted applications, follow up on pending submissions, and report on any awards receivedMARKETING & COMMUNICATIONSCreate and schedule social media content across all program phases — nomination reminders, champion reveals, registration pushes, golfer recruitment, and event countdownsBuild and manage email sequences for registration, P2P fundraising, and champion campaigns using ActiveCampaignLead champion family storytelling: conduct interviews, collect photos and video, draft profiles and media kits, and manage reveal campaignsKeep the website current — update homepage, registration pages, champion content, and P2P pages each phaseOPERATIONS & PROJECT MANAGEMENTMaintain project management tools and master files to keep annual programming on trackSchedule and prepare materials for board meetings, including weekly reports and phase updatesManage CRM data (ActiveCampaign, BetterUnite) including contact cleanup, list imports, and data integrityCoordinate the P2P program: training sessions, captain program, activity tracking, leaderboards, and captain coachingSupport event logistics including vendor coordination (photographer, DJ), golfer registration, and volunteer communicationBuild Winter 2027 Gala and assist with sponsorship packages and gala marketing planningQUALIFICATIONSSome experience or coursework in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or a related fieldFamiliarity with email marketing platforms (ActiveCampaign or similar) and social media content creationComfort managing digital tools — website CMS updates, CRM data entry, and project management softwareStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines across a program yearClear, confident written communication skills for donor-facing content, social posts, and board materialsExperience with or interest in peer-to-peer fundraising platforms is a plusAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environmentProactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of ongoing responsibilitiesGenuine passion for the mission and enthusiasm for contributing to the fight against cancerBachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field (preferred, not required)$25-$35 per hourWHY JOIN CHAMPIONS FOR CURESThis role offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the fight against cancer while developing valuable skills in nonprofit operations and fundraising.
