Founding Mechatronics Engineer
About the jobAbout UsPreScalar is building the infrastructure for manufacturing next-generation robotics and hardware, starting with the most advanced test systems in the world. Our team brings experience from Cruise, Waymo, Rivian, Wayve, Chrysler, Lucid, Auris Surgical Robotics, JNJ, and Remedy Robotics. Join us to build the systems that build the next generation of manufacturing. What you’ll doOwn the design and build automated test systems for manufacturing lines and field deployment (robotics, AV, advanced hardware)Architect modular test platforms using off-the-shelf instrumentation, custom fixtures, and harnessingDevelop both rack-based factory equipment and portable field test toolingCreate schematics, CAD models, BOMs, assembly documentation, and system diagramsIntegrate over the full build lifecycle: design > fabricate (CNC/3D print) > assemble > bring-up > deployBuild and validate systems in our SF lab, then support deployment into customer sitesWrite Python-based tooling for test control, hardware interfaces, and system bring-upHelp get customer products from the lab into the real world where they can make a difference in peoples livesWhat we’re looking for~5 years designing and deploying automated embedded systemsProficiency in EE/mechatronics fundamentals: schematics, PCB layouts, datasheetsProficiency in CAD (fixture design, mechanical integration)Proficiency in Python (test control, hardware interfacing, automation)Hands-on builder: comfortable fabricating, wiring, assembling, and debugging systems end-to-endExperience with test instrumentation (power supplies, DMM, Scopes, DAQs)Experience deploying hardware into production or operational environmentsRelevant experience (one or more)Robotics, consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace, etc.Vehicle or embedded comms: CAN, EtherCAT, Serial, Automotive EthernetDesigning fixtures, harnesses, and test interfaces for complex DUTsCool side projects outside your comfort areaPay Range: $170K – $250K + Equity
