Plumber's AssistantAs a small family-owned business in Central Ohio, Five Star Home Services was started over 50 years ago and has expanded to over 40 locations throughout the Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati metropolitan areas. Through our Profit on Purpose program, we donate 10% of our profit to the communities that we serve a large portion of which goes directly to supporting individuals in short and long-term recovery from drug addiction.A plumber's assistant is a skilled tradesperson that provides support to a professional plumber. Plumber's assistants are also often involved in apprenticeship programs as part of their training or licensure. They perform many of the same tasks but might do so under closer supervision than an experienced or independent plumber would.Duties and Responsibilities:Help lead plumbers with plumbing systems installation and repairRead blueprints and drawings to determine where plumbing system will be installedSelect materials which are required for installation, such as type and size of pipeHand in materials and tools to plumbersLocate pipe leaks and cut open walls and structures to expose pipesMeasure, cut, and thread pipesClean dirt and oil from pipes using chemical solutionsPerform preventative maintenance on plumbing systemsKeep the work area cleanQualifications:Must possess a minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED). Preferred Diploma from a Trade SchoolAbility to understand and deliver good customer service.Eager, punctual, and looking for an opportunity to start in the trades with a willingness to work hard and work UP!Must possess good attention to detail.Must possess an active driver's license.Physical Demands:You must be able to climb, reach, sit, stand, kneel, bend, and stretch for extended periods of time.You must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds with ease; I.e., Ladders, tool bags, pipe, etc.Work may be completed inside and outside of our customers' homes. You must be able to work in all types of weather conditions, I.e., Hot, Cold, Wind, Rain, Hail, Snow, Sleet, etc.
