NEEC’s commissioning team ensures that every system operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with the highest industry standards.About the RoleNEEC is seeking P&C Engineers and Technicians to support the design, testing, and commissioning of high-voltage substation and renewable energy projects across the U.S.This is a travel-based role that combines engineering design support with hands-on field execution, depending on experience level. You will play a key role in ensuring protection systems, control schemes, and substation equipment are properly designed, installed, tested, and commissioned.Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering / Design (Engineer-level):Design and review P&C drawings (schematics, wiring, logic diagrams)Perform relay coordination studies and settings calculationsDevelop control logic and ensure compliance with IEEE, NESC, and client standardsCollaborate with project teams to deliver integrated solutionsField / Commissioning (Technician-level):Install, wire, and test protection & control systems and substation equipmentPerform relay testing, point-to-point checks, and functional verificationSupport commissioning and energization activitiesTroubleshoot relays, breakers, transformers, and SCADA systemsOperate test equipment (Omicron, Doble, Megger, multimeters)Document testing results and field reportsQualificationsFor Engineer candidates:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering3–5+ years of P&C design, relay settings, or field engineering experienceFor Technician candidates:Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience2–5+ years of substation, relay testing, or P&C field experienceGeneral Requirements:Experience with protective relays (SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens)Ability to read electrical drawings and schematicsKnowledge of control circuits and substation systemsStrong attention to detail and commitment to safetyWillingness to travel extensively across the U.S.Preferred SkillsSCADA / RTU systems experienceCommunication protocols: DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70EExperience supporting utility or EPC projectsWork EnvironmentThis is a field-based role involving travel to substations and renewable project sites. Work includes outdoor environments and high-voltage equipment.
