Welder - 1st and 2nd Shifts

The Welder operates MIG/TIG welding equipment to fabricate high-quality metal parts and assemblies per customer specifications, meeting or exceeding safety, quality, and productivity standards. Reporting Structure Reports to: Welding Supervisor Direct Reports: None Authority: Responsible for weld booth performance, identifying process issues, and halting work for safety concerns. Key Responsibilities Expertly operating MIG and/or TIG welding equipment. Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to welding, using straightedges, squares, clamps and fixtures Ability to make minor welding parameter adjustments to ensure proper weld quality Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with standard inspection tools to ensure conformance with drawing specifications Supporting achievement of company standards in safety, productivity, and on-time production Reporting all property or tool damage immediately to the production supervisor Maintaining a satisfactory attendance record, as outlined in the employee handbook Using inspection devices (calipers, pin gauges, check fixtures) to inspect parts, according to print and product inspection plan (PIP) Selecting and using fixtures, as identified in the process setup sheets, IQS, or job traveler Gathering required documents (process photos, process inspection plans, job traveler, print, and work in process parts) to successfully run the job Reading the print fully to understand tolerances, geometry, weld symbols and special instructions Separating and labeling non-conforming parts according to the ISO policy Understanding safety requirements in work areas and complying with requirements Using material data sheets (MSDS) effectively Completing daily, weekly, monthly, and annual department maintenance as assigned Accurately entering job information, quantities, and inspection results into the ERP systems Qualifications AWS Welding Certification is required High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) 6+ months manufacturing experience (preferred) Ability to read blueprints and adjust weld parameters Basic computer and data entry skills (ERP familiarity preferred) Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and teamwork skills Work Environment & Physical Demands Factory setting; exposure to variable temperatures Use of standard PPE including eye and hearing protection Standing, bending, lifting up to 45 lbs, and repetitive motion Requires visual acuity for inspection and safe equipment operation Additional Information Employment with General Stamping & Metalworks is at-will.
