Director of Hotel Operations

We are conducting a confidential search for a seasoned Director of Operations to join a premier luxury hotel located in the Upstate area of New York. This role offers the opportunity to lead core hotel operations within a large-scale, unionized property and to play a critical role in delivering exceptional guest experiences at a flagship property. The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing Front Desk, Housekeeping, Retail, and Call Center operations, ensuring service excellence, operational efficiency, financial performance, and strong labor relations. The property features luxury suites, several restaurants and bars. This position requires a highly experienced operator with deep union experience in a luxury, high-volume hospitality setting. $140,000-$160,000 base salary + bonus (historically $7,500-$10,000)Responsibilities:Provide leadership and operational oversight for Front Desk, Housekeeping, Retail, and Call Center departmentsEnsure consistent delivery of elevated guest service standards across all touchpointsLead, develop, and retain department leadership and frontline teams in a union environmentPartner cross-functionally with resort and shared services teams to align operationsSet and enforce departmental standards for service, cleanliness, productivity, safety, training, and cost controlPlan and manage labor schedules to ensure optimal coverage and efficiencyOversee recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, and annual reviewsMaintain a positive, inclusive, and compliant labor environmentMonitor cleanliness, quality assurance, and operational checklists across departmentsControl inventory and ensure optimal sell-out and rate strategies where applicableReview operational reports, KPIs, and financial statements to assess performance against budgetLead guest recovery efforts and resolve escalated guest and employee issues professionallyAnalyze guest satisfaction data, identify trends, and implement corrective actionsCoordinate VIP arrivals and special events with Guest Relations and other departmentsChampion brand standards, operational initiatives, and continuous improvementEnsure consistent communication through pre-shift briefings, leadership meetings, and team forumsUphold all company standards, safety protocols, and compliance requirementsPerform additional duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:Extensive union experience is mandatory (deal-breaker without it)10-15 years of hospitality operations experience, with significant leadership responsibilityProven success leading teams in a unionized, high-volume luxury hotel or resort environmentExperience overseeing multi-department hotel operationsStrong understanding of labor relations, productivity management, and service excellencePreferred Background:Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Marketing, or related fieldExperience in a five-star or luxury hotel environment strongly preferredPrior leadership experience in large, complex hospitality operationsSchedule Expectations:Flex schedule required; weekly schedules varyOpenings and closings requiredNo overnight shiftsMust have valid driving licenseCore Competencies:Union leadership and labor relations expertiseGuest-first operational mindsetStrong financial and business acumenAbility to analyze data, trends, and service metrics to drive resultsExcellent judgment, professionalism, and integrityCollaborative leadership style with the confidence to drive changeClear, effective written and verbal communicationTechnical & Analytical SkillsWorking knowledge of Microsoft OfficeStrong analytical and mathematical reasoning skillsAbility to interpret financial reports, labor metrics, and operational dashboardsComfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced luxury environmentIf you meet the required qualifications and are interested in this role, please apply today.The Solomon Page DistinctionOur teams, comprised of subject matter experts, develop an interest in your preferences and goals and we act as an advisor for your career advancement.
