Water/Wastewater ApprenticeJOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 05/11/2026 POSTING NUMBER: 053507 LOCATION: Maintenance Department - 930 POSITION TITLE: Water/Wastewater ApprenticeJOB DESCRIPTION:Assist water/wastewater operator in maintaining daily operations of water/wastewater plants of the District.DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:Help or assist operator in daily tasks as directed by the operator or Coordinator of Maintenance.Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.Correct unsafe conditions in work area and immediately report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor.Keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.Inspect tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.Receive and complete work orders electronically.Respond to emergency calls as needed and be on-call/stand-by as assigned by supervisor.Maintain confidentiality.Regular attendance.Other duties as assigned.EXPERIENCE: QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Certification* High School Diploma or GED* Valid Texas driver's licenseSpecial Knowledge/SkillsWorking knowledge of water/wastewater plantsWilling attitude and ability to learnAbility to read and understand verbal and written instructionsBasic computer skills working with Office 365CONTACT INFORMATION:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Continual walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, and carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Ability to operate hand and power tools and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Work outside and inside; on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, ladders, and scaffolding; and around machinery with moving parts. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, excessive noises, fumes, gas lines, and toxic chemicals.
