Brooklyn Glass is an artist-owned studio and a vital resource for glass artists and craftspeople in the New York City area. We support a wide range of practices, including glassblowing, hot casting, kilncasting, neon, flameworking, and fusing.We are seeking experienced freelance teachers and teaching assistants to support classes in glassblowing, flameworking, or neon bending.Our courses take place in a unique, professional environment alongside working artists. Classes typically consist of 6–9 students. In the Hot Shop, instructors are supported by two teaching assistants, while other studios such as Flameworking and Neon, are assigned teaching assistants based on class size. We offer a wide range of introductory classes and actively foster a welcoming community for first-time glass students.ResponsibilitiesAssist or lead glass classes and demonstrationsSupport students safely and confidently in a hot shop/flame shop environmentCollaborate with co-teachers to ensure smooth class operationsHelp with cleanup and basic studio maintenanceQualificationsTeaching or assisting experience preferredStrong safety awareness and clear communication skillsReliable, professional, and comfortable working with the publicDetailsFreelance work, based on class availabilityTeaching Rate is $42 per hour and the Teaching Assistant Rate is $28 per hourTo apply, please send a brief introduction to info@brooklynglass.com including:Resume with relevant experienceUp to 5 images of your glass work.
