Anticipated 2026-2027 Teacher – 7/8 Science TeacherOverview Of The RoleTo create a flexible 7/8 middle school science program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed for a high-quality middle grades education, in accordance with each student’s ability and to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.DUTIES And RESPONSIBILITIESTeaches the approved curriculum that is adopted by the School Board.Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and uses various approaches to teaching to meet the needs of each student.Utilizes available instructional time effectively.Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports in a standards-based system.Identifies student needs and effectively collaborates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.Assists in the development of IEPs/504s and acts as teacher representative at meetings when necessary.Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom and that are in line with school wide behavior expectations.Maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning, good health, and safety.Communicates regularly with parents to discuss student’s progress and interpret the school program.Uses technology effectively.Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.Assists in selection of instructional materials and supplies.Administers district and state assessments in accordance with testing policies.Participates in curriculum development programs as required.Analyzes and uses data to inform instruction.Maintains up-to-date certifications.Participates in team meetings and activities.Performs duties as assigned.Ability to stand & sit for prolonged times and lift 30lbs or moreQUALIFICATIONS And LICENSE REQUIREMENTSHighly qualified in content area.Maine State Certification.Bachelor’s Degree.Must meet Maine State Fingerprinting requirement.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.If intrested in applying, please download the application from the link below:httphttps://files-backend.assets.thrillshare.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/3073/Lls/9db5d728-65cd-4b8c-b885-411fa76e0ff0/Teacher_Application.pdf?disposition=inlines://files-backend.assets.thrillshare.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/3073/Lls/9db5d728-65cd-4b8c-b885-411fa76e0ff0/Teacher_Application.pdf?disposition=inlinePlease send completed application to Jcote@milfordsd.org.
