DescriptionReports To: Program Coordinator, Parks & RecreationPosition SummarySummer Day Camp Crew members support staff with daily activities & assist with upkeep of materials and facilities. Summer Day Camp Crew Members help execute the mission and vision of Hempfield Township and Summer Day Camp.The Department of Parks & Recreation is focused on providing essential community, recreation, and leisure services to the residents of Hempfield Township. Camp provides families in Hempfield Township and surrounding communities safe and affordable summer enrichment experiences while embodying the values of safety, enrichment and exploration, community awareness, social and personal identity development, and entertainment and fun.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Follow the policies and procedures set forth in your staff manual relating to safety and human relationsAssist with daily operational tasksPrepare camp lunch and snackPrepare daily activitiesInventory suppliesHelp with facilities needsInteract with childrenAssess hazards to ensure child safetyRequirementsQualifications:Education & Experience:15 years of age min. & entering 10th grade minimum (2024/25 enrollment; interest in working with children)Please provide resumé and two letters of recommendation.Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:The individual must possess the following skills and abilities or be able to demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential function of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.Must attend Camp Staff training and available 10 weeksMust obtain Act 34 Clearances prior to start of Camp Staff Training.Must Obtain CPR/First Aid certification prior to start of Camp Staff Training (Township provided if needed)Must demonstrate outstanding customer service skills that align with Hempfield CAREs standards.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 35 pounds.
